FX-Predator Series Combat Tank

Post by legorevolution on Tue Jul 01, 2008 4:01 am

I made this tank for the Republic Hovertank Guild Build at the last minute. Starting at about 6pm I finished around 10pm. At the beginning I wasn't liking the results I was getting with the tank, and thought it literally might be my worst moc attempt to date. In the end I got a pretty good model Smile It's called the FX-Predator Series Combat Tank.

Full shot of the tank. As I progressed on this build, it started to mold into kinda a predecessor of a TX-130s... it's where my mind took me, so kill me Uber.

Another full shot. I liked the 'spikes' at the front of the tank which in my mind are supposed to be used for ramming droids and other vehicles. Take note of the duel blasters on each side.

Front shot: Here you can kinda see the resemblance to the TX-130s.

Side shot: Look at the greebles on the side/ the 'engine' area. This is probably my favorite part of the tank. The swords and droid arms look really cool together. You should see the space in between, when you look at it from an angle. My camera couldn't capture that very well so you miss out Rolling Eyes

Another side shot. I tried to make this tank as 'republicy' as possible- something you should admire Uber, after all you really wanted to see Republic insignia on it Wink . Threw in white, republic red, republic green, and some dark greys and blacks. Oh and that bright green color too.

Here ya go. You can kinda see the back propulsion engines, and there's also a pretty good view of the side engine with the swords/droid arms.

The back, more resemblence to the TX-130s here. You can also see the engines. Fun Fact: I enjoyed building this part a lot. Strangely too much.

Birdseye view.

I also threw in some flip up, then flick out, flick-fire missiles on the sides. Right now they're down, but behind the side engine area.

Here they are up.

As in my last moc with the Manta Droid Subfighter, I tried to make this tank as playable as possible. The tank is very detailed, structuraly sound, swooshable Wink and it has flick-fire missiles! Yay!

Here's a look inside the cockpit. There's that bright green I was talking about. I lined the cockpit with it partly in fact to annoy the pilots, and partly in fact that it went well with the white and made the interior look nice. It's a total chick magnet now.

More cockpit, more controls.

Ah the bottom! Theres some repulsor technology in there. Fun Fact #2: This tank is waterproof and is suitable for underwater use. Notice the gills on the bottom Razz Just kidding, but it looks kinda like a fish doesn't it?

The dark green + dark red, looks kind of funny.
But this thing does look great, even though a sniper could take them out in 4 seconds....

Nice. Reminds me of a combination of the SwampSpeeder and TX-130S. Smile

Yep, since it's an open cockpit they were easy targets- that's why the tank had to go fast and ram stuff! Razz Sorry I don't have instructions but I can take pictures of it while I'm taking it apart. I liked the use of the swords myself Smile

It's well done. I didn't like the green at first, but then the overhead view made it seem okay... It's still quite multicolored, but you may of pulled it off. I'd advise working on coloring (Constructive Critism)

Yep, I understand and agree. I didn't want to make it too bland so I kinda went overboard on the details and all the republic colors. I guess it's like trying to pack a UCS version into a smaller space Rolling Eyes Also yeah the tank looks a lot better in person- especially that dark green.
