CABG Interview 7 - Clonecommando007
It's time, once again for one of Bly's exciting CABG interviews. Today, its with the big man himself, Santa Clonecommando007! OK, let's get started:
1. Why did you create CABG?
Have any of you all heard of the 'Builders Lounge'? www.builderslounge.net
I have browsed around there for all my time online, gazing at the wonderful MOC's and loving the whole concept of 'Eliteism', where you have to be a good builder to join. So I thought to myself, why not make a similar site, for my favorite lego bunch, the clone troopers? And having previously created several forums, I easily construced this new one.
2. How/why did you pick the name Clonecommando007?
Well originally I started out my lego online experience on the legoclub.com boards. I thought they were awesome, and my profile there was paul007. I liked James Bond, and my name was Paul, so, walla! But I saw some of the other profile names, and thought, wow my name sucks. So I made a new name tying in to my favorite kind of trooper, the Clone Commando, and added, 007, for the famed MI6 agent.
3. What brought you into building LEGO? How long have you been doing it?
Since I was a little tike. I started off with LEGO Duplo at an early age, and then took over my sisters lego. I had a small spin off brand white table, and I would make multicolored houses and what not. I loved the 1998 era construction vehicles. That's what kept me going with lego. I gradually got more and more.
4. What's your favourite LEGO theme? Favourite set?
Favorite theme? Hmm...Lemme think for a few minu...LEGO Star Wars. Hands down. Best liscensed theme, best theme ever. I can still remember looking through the catolouges as a child, wishing I had that speeder bike, but spending all my moeny on the police off roader. Thus I had no Lego Star Wars until episode three came out...And my first LSW set was the Clone Turbo Tank. That's still my favorite set. I played with it so much. Wish I still had it together.
5. If you could pick 3 sets for TLC to make from any theme, what would they be?
1. 212th Clone Trooper Battlepack - Star Wars
2. Kashyyyk Defense, with Kashyyyk Troopers and AT-RT's, and wookiees, and barricades - Star Wars
3. Minifigure scale F-14 Tomcat, under a different name to get out of a contract - Creator
6. Why/how did you start making your "Battlefield" series?
It began with a dream of 'Realistic Building', or making stuff that you could actually see in an urban area. Then I started dreaming up a conflict, and put the guys on the bignettes. After four successful bignettes, I moved on to comics, of which I'm working on a fourth one now.
7. What is your favourite MOC that you have made?
I have made two big scenes from Star Wars: Hanger 10 Attack, and Imperial Landing Craft Crash. Though many people have said that the ILC crash was my best, my personal favorite remains the Hanger 10 Attack, because it has them clonies in it.
8. What MOC do you hope to make sometime in the future?
After I finish my battlefield, #4, I hope to make a Clone Wars scene for my contest, with my custom Clone Wars prototype Sentinel Class Landing Craft in it, and my custom clones with custom stickers.
9. What's your favourite MOC made by someone else?
Though I love looking at ships, I'll always like scenes and bignettes better. I really like a few of the Clone Wars scenes I've seen, but I've never determined a favorite.
10. Who do you think should be interviewed next?
Commander Bly. The one question that should be asked should be 'WHY DO YOU DO THESE THINGS!?!?!?' Ok, joke's over...I don't really know. Go interview ryan.
11. Anything else you want to say?
Just as an alert, Harold and Kumar is pretty beast, go watch it now. Heh heh be over 18 though.
Umm...I have lots of stuff I'm doing and I might not be around that much, but I want every active member in this site to get an entry, at least one, in the Eurobricks Clone Wars Building Contest. That's my goal. Put our name out there. Good luck to all!
See ya next time for another exciting interview, this time with Uberlag!

Also, was your Hangar 10 attack the Utapau Battle Scene you made?

I suggest looking towards scenes from The Clone Wars cartoon series. The Grievous vig someone made was really good, from Hypori. There's tons of ideas in that series that would be very unique and cool.

I pity you that your first LSW set was the Turbo Tank
; missed all the yellow heads in between.
But still, a fine review and we learn yet another byte of information of our mysterious man behind the curtain!
