Very well done, PD. It actually does look like its flying.

Anyways I got bored too and played around with GIMP for an hour or so, and ended up making these using one of the gallery's avatar as a template:

Looks great Mike! Maybe they will be added in as avi's. I especially like the one you are using as your avi. Wink

Did a little image editing using a screenie from EAW. Added lighting, shadow, flare, and increased the artistic appeal of the image through various highlighting, picture correction, and layering.

I think it looks quite nice Wink .

And of course, there is my new sig... Razz

I really need to download more mods, that scene is priceless. Shocked

WOOHOO! I finally got GIMP!!! I'm so excited, but anyway does anyone have a technique for making "sonic waves" Like the ones from the Geonosians's guns in AOTC?

That sounds very nice and good luck on your exams. In the meantime everyone check out my first Gimp photo!

I think that the muzzle flare with the chaingun is really effective instead of multiple lasers. In case anyone is wondering it is not done yet.

EDIT: I have the finished version:

C&C welcome.

The explosion is pretty nice, but the lasers are way to big and white. Try to make them not so white and thinner.

Which ones? if your talking abpout the red ones, I wanted to make them acurate to the gun that shot them:

As you can see it has a large barrel in comparison to the clones' gun.

No, I don't believe I did. The gaussian blur was turned up above 15 though. Now that I'm looking there are alot and they are a little bit to big. While talking about this pic, what did you guys think of the effects for the chain guns?

ARRRGLEBLAAARGLE! You're not even using the technique I was using when I first did this, Blueleader!

Here's a simple (if not tedious and somewhat... remedial) technique that should hold you over untill you figure out a better one: First, take the paintbrush tool and adjust it to the width you want your bolt to be through it's size adjustment slider. Use one of the fuzzy brushes. Then, create a path and have it stroke the path with another tool, a paintbrush. Let it stroke it, and then draw a loose oval path around the blasterbolt, encompassing it and just a little bit of the space around it. Gaussian blur it just a little, then repath the laser bolt tightly (so that there is nothing around it) and colorize or color balance it.

It teaches you to plan your laserbolts, and because they take so long to do, it teaches you not to spam the frame with thousands of bolts Wink, as did you. A lot of this didn't make sense. Blaster bolts DO NOT FALL FROM TEH SKY. They are not mortars, they are beams of coherent energy which can kick your Arse if it hits you. So half of these guys look like their shooting at an emplacement above them, while the other half look like they're running for cover in their advance against it. However, I didn't want to clean up the CipQuad because I didn't know where it was being fired. Figure postioning is EVERYTHING in a comic.

So, here's my cleanup. Added bolts were they should be, mopped up the explosion, added some HDR lighting to make up for that filthy camera of yours Razz, and improved the overall feel. The MOC also needs work, as it is just a bunch of BURPS on a baseplate. Although, I was a bit sloppy. I added in the bolts before I HDR'd... so they look a little funny. The order of operations you want to take is: Touchup, Fire, Lighting, Bolts, Text.

And Jinjie... I do not think I have the base image, although I should have did a before/after shot of that before I deleted the base Mad . Lemme just say that EAW is not very visually impressive for our time. It's still got solid graphics, but nothing quite up to speed with the High Dyanmic Range lighting, antialiasing of models, and all those goodies we have today (NOOB SPEAK DELETED What? A little noob speak is always good for the soul!).

Well you said a mouthful Sial Wink . First to be said, the reason there were so many bolts was that I, admitadly took the lazy route, made one blaster bolt and copy/pasted it over and over again Embarassed .Second this was, also admitadly, was a very plain and simple pic of half of this "MOC"( as you said it barley qualifies). The clones are asaulting a "fortress" where there are enemes positioned on top and at the ground level (hence the BOLTS FROM TEH SKY! part of the pic Wink ). Lastly I wanted to say thanks for the constuctive critisim and ask, as a GIMP noob Wink , If you could thouroughly explain the techniques for the sun light and the way you cleaned up my explosion.

EDIT: I developed a new explosion technique here it is:

Thanks gerrard, what line thickness would you reccomend using? Anyway I made another attempt at the Clone trooper pic from above. Just be warned that I did not change the way I make my lasers if you would like to comment.
