Iraq tribute
I have been assigned a lot of political homework lately, and have been thinking about the war a lot lately. Anyways I made a small creation to honor our brave, strong, and noble US soldiers. This is sort of a sad creation, so .........
A Us soldier commits suicide because he is alone in the Iraq desert with no food, water, just weapons....
He was satisfied for working for the US, hope his effort will not be used in vain.
Here it is
Please don't put smiley faces everywhere in this topic..... It is a very serious situation, feel free to discuss.

Re: Iraq tribute
Pretty harsh if you ask me. I would choose something better than suicide to honor our military... But it still is a nice vig. And a sad story.

So you think our brave men and women should shy away from the military, and stop risking their lives for our protection? I fail to see your point...

Re: Iraq tribute
I honestly don't know.... It troubles me greatly that so many people must lose their lives for such a pointless war..... But, at the same time, I would like to honer them for being so brave, and amazingly helpful for the US

I agree. I believe if our soldiers were serving there and they were lost in the dessert for awhile they'd keep there hopes up! At least I would. Good moc I like the small sand dunish things in it.
Re: Iraq tribute
I am gonna judge on the MOC itself and not the tribute itself.
I think you did well with the sand... and that's ALOT of blood!
And Revo... dessert? I think you mean desert.

Hey Thunder you get off my case ok! That's honestly maybe the first spelling mistake I've had on this site in hundreds of posts!

Well, what troubles me is that the total amount of deaths in Chicago, Illinois in the past several months has been higher than the deaths from Iraq, so... Ditto.
I know why you want to honor them, but perhaps show them doing what they actually ARE doing in Iraq, like sniping at some terrorists, or maybe killing a few, like Aridar's vignette portrayed. They aren't just sitting on their shebs getting hit with mortar rounds. There IS an enemy, and as long as that enemy is dangerous and would NEVER sit down with the leader of our nation I say that's a reason to have a war.

I don't get how this moc is "honoring" the soldiers in Iraq. If you want to honor them, show a group of soldiers looking pround or something like that.

Re: Iraq tribute
It looks like I had the wrong idea, maybe something more proud will come by lego wise for our brave troopers.
Re: Iraq tribute
I like the vig itself, nice terrain, but I don't think it's a good way to remind all your soldiers.

'Cause no other countries are fighting, or being fought for, in the Middle East at all, right? This'd be okay if it was specifically about the US side of the war, but as you just called it 'Iraq tribute'...
Anyway, this isn't really a 'tribute', as it neither shows pride, nor a recreation of what's actually going on. You could argue that it represents the depressing nature of the whole ordeal, but that seems a bit 'deep' for what it is. On the MOC side, there's not much to comment on, as it's a tan base with a dead guy on it. The Anakin head is a good choice, I guess, and the texturing on the ground is nice, but all the TrRed blood's a bit over the top.

I think sending all those soldiers there is pure suicide. One half returns dead and the other half mutilated...

Too right, Pineapple - I still reckon the UK forces should withdraw. But I won't go into the 'why' of it (forums are more fun without politics ).

Same as ours. I still remember when the newspaper said: 'Tenth Dutch militarist dead'. I bet nobody bothers at ten military deaths in the US.

Re: Iraq tribute
Yup... Pull out... Admit defeat when we're winning... What's that? Emboldening of our enemies after retreat? No no, that's normal... What do you mean 'more 9/11s'?
Or at least get Barry back home and fix the . crime/murder rate in his own state before we put him in the White House. Think of how many soldiers which would now be home who could be potentially murdered!
Rant over. Back on topic, please!
OK, that's a lot of blood, but the terrain is fine and the soldier is fine, and the head is perfect. Also, don't you think there isn't THAT much expansive desert in Iraq that the Jihadists wouldn't be crawling everywhere in search of potential prisoners to interrogate? Besides, they have radios and helicopters. And if there was too much turbulence or anti-air in the area for a helicopter to come in don't you think the enemy would have found him by then?
*eherm*
Sorry if I seem too critical, but I'm just trying to cover all the bases. I hope you don't mind, darth.
By the way DP, I really don't know why the Dutch are in the war. In my opinion they should be left alone out of this, unless they were hit by the enemy. And I think I understand what you mean. 10 U.S. troops dead, not THAT much effect. 10 U.S. troops from New York, or Nevada, or South Carolina, or Kansa, etc., that's got more effect.

Pineapple and I never said to pull everyone out. In my opinion, it should just be the US forces over there - it's their war, after all. And they should have no trouble, seeing as you so often remind us how you 'saved our a$$' in WW2. If you took on the Reich all on your own, why would you need our help now?
But you're right, no more off-topicness, or we'll get kicked out. Play nice, children!

Oh, I kinda missed that.
*something snaps*
Wait! Then that means... You stand exactly... where... I do.
This is confusing.
Yeah, politics gives me a headache...
P.S. Ha ha, Market Garden... Paratroops at their best!

Re: Iraq tribute
Ok, look guys, I an sorry that I messed up on this moc, I named it after I built it, I know it is a very bad tribute, lets forget about it being a soldier from any country, and try to comment on the moc itself... thanks.
