"He Doesn't Like You."

Post by Chaotic Good on Tue Jan 20, 2009 9:26 am

Ponda Baba from the cantina. This is before the loss of his arm.

Ponda Baba, also known by the alias "Sawkee" was an Aqualish pirate and the partner of Doctor Cornelius Evazan. He fulfilled the Aqualish stereotype of being an ill-tempered thug.

The head is hand-sculpted and painted, and the decals are by me.

Thanks for looking!

Hola Wow!

While the head seems a little rough around the edges, and your camera could use some help, that is pretty damned good! It's nice to see some skill in newer members Wink . Bravo!

Ah, Chaotic Good, it's nice to see you on CABG. How's your other WIP minfigures going?

Yes, the ones from Flickr.

Very nice indeed!

The torso and arm decals are easy; his jacket is similar in almost every way(if indeed a copy) of Greedo's. Wink

That looks pretty cool. Are they really decals? They look so... rough? Surprised

Rough? Yes, they are decals; printed on white decal paper, so the decal has an orange background, which didn't quite match.

Thank you for all the feedback!

Not bad!

But why don't you use clear decals? They are much better for minifigs like this!

Because what happens with ordinary (clear) decals on dark torsos is that all light colors are lost. Only if you use an ALPS Printer can you print designs which don't do that, as Kamonian does.

Yea, that's really a negative about decals.

I think you should also use paint for the head sculpt...
