Remotely Controlled Self Propelled Artillery Turbolaser

Post by 80-0 on Mon Mar 03, 2008 10:48 pm

This is my first MOC here; the RC-SPLA-T.

Gallery:

http://www.maj.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=169832

A brief overview: The RC-SPLA-T is an artillery warship used to bombard CIS tanks from a distance. It is controlled by an R5 unit which takes orders from an MCU on shore. It has a main gun, two DC-15s modified for light vehicle combat, two proton torpedoes, and two ion torpedoes. While sporting a small gun, it is heavily armored. It disposes of shells out a hole in the back.

Comments? Smile

I was going to put the word 'Light' in the title, but it wouldn't fit. Razz So it's Remotely Controlled Self Propelled Light Artillery Turbolaser. Wink As for the coloring, I was originally making this a boat for my Batman villians, then I changed my mind and decided to try and make it a World War 2 howitzer tank. Then I realized the treads wouldn't fit on the bottom, so I decided to make it a WW2 howitzer warship. Then I realized the true potential of my work and I made it into an RC-SPLA-T. I will absolutely mod it and add some more dark red and other republicy colors ASAP!

Its good but I think thee is to many colors. Try to make the trans pieces all the same color and take away the spikes on the sides.
Oh, and I really love that big missile! Fordo Yo!

Very nice, Scorch. I'd say it looks more CIS-ish, but I still really like the overall design. Great work.

OK, I'll reply to everyone in order:

Commander Faie: The spikes were gone by yesterday; I realized they just detracted from the overall design. The only reason I added them was because of the lump of bricks I was working with. I built this from the Knight's Kingdom barge with the spikes on the landing ramp, so since I needed a bunch of 1x1 bricks(and Lord knows how hard those are to find lying around Razz ) I slapped em' on. Now my SPLA-T is spikeless Pilot . Also, it's not a missile, it's the main artillery gun. Wink

ABL: Thanks, I was thinking over the past couple days of what to name it; then I remembered the SPHA-T, but couldn't remember the name. I looked on Wookiepedia, and there I found it. Then I thought of SPLA-T. Smile

Aridar: Yeah, I thought of making it a droid ship; maybe I could've put a droid or two inside it. But the thought of a droid ship didn't really click on anything inside me. Razz I'm gonna try and use some more AT-AP and ARC-170 parts for a more Republicy finish. Smile

Also, sorry for the bad pic. I could've sworn that pic was wider on my Maj. Camo

Is there some rule against having a wide pic? Because I DID take a pic of the whole ship; it just isn't coming in all the way.

You should get a brickshelf, scorch. Or just use the Guild-shelf. Smile

Nice work! The better of the two. But it would be better with a guy inside it.

I tried that, but the frame of the ship is just too small to have a clone inside it. I'd love to rebuild it, or build something totally different on the same frame, with a clone inside.

Also, I use Maj because I put a bunch of stuff that isn't Lego there. But I'll put my stuff on Brickshelf! Smile

I like the main gun. I would plump up the bottom black area a little. I'm assuming it's repulsor powered so you don't need to, but it would look cooler if had kind of a hovercraft look to the bottom. Look at the this for ideas if you want.

Ahh, I remember that from Battlefront 2! Razz Yeah, I think the back two bricks which are on a slant can come off and maybe be replaced with some bricks, and a black plate on the bottom, then maybe some gliders for easier movement. Tks for the advice, and yes, it is repulsor powered. Smile

It looks good so far, but it can use a bit more work. And for the republic, I believe they alays have a clone pilot, and a R5 unit as a CO-pilot.

By the way, you're from CC right? Than you might remember me. Smile

Yup! I sure do! Smile

I now modded it to hold a Phase 1 clone, and added much more red.

I like the mods but I think you should get rid of the tan bricks in there. Fordo Yo!
