Mission to Yavin 4: Recover and Maintain all Sith Holocrons
For the March Battle Contest:
Upon decoding a CIS transmission to invade Yavin 4 and search for any remaining Sith Holocrons, the Republic immediately responded and sent troops. Fearing any uncovered holocrons would eventually fall into the hands of Dooku and Ventress (and undoubtedly draw out the war), Felucian Jedi General Xe Jianum and the 71st Jungle Battalion were sent to intervene. Combing through dense swamp and jungle vegetation in search of holocrons and the CIS, an ambush and fierce firefight breaks out at the site of ancient Sith ruins. A new dark figure emerges from the shadows, and launches herself towards the Republic forces...
Overview of the battle in the Jungle.
Laser blasts cut through the tall grass as the two sides fire at one another.
A jungle outfitted Droid Commando has set up his sniper riffle atop a massive tree in preparation for the ambush.
A Super Battle Droid fires off a shot while a jungle Droid Commando takes a hit along the rivers edge within the swamp.
Another jungle Droid Commando uses a vibro-blade the cut through the dense grass.
"Ace is down, keep your fire steady!" shouts out Dimple as he blasts through the grass.
Another view.
"General, our re-enforcements are 5-6 minutes out, but they're reporting a large build-up of troops ahead!"
"I think if we can make our way to that clearing over there we can hold them off for awhile."
The troops and Jedi General Xe Jianum are unsuspectingly ambushed by the Dark Jedi Merell Mons.
Merell Mons wields two red bladed tonfa-style hilt sabers that she has acquired one way or another by viewing one of many lost Sith Holocrons on Yavin. She has turned to the dark side, and is now obsessed with possessing all holocrons so that her knowledge of the dark side of the force may be the greatest in the Galaxy. She fights for neither the CIS nor the Republic. I plan on continuing her story down the line.
Side shot of the battle.
Back shot of the moc.
Another side shot.
The jungle reclaimed ancient Sith ruins and Merrel Mons.
Top shot of the moc.
Background: A lot of my inspiration for this moc came from the Vietnam War, where battles occasionally were fought in rice paddies and tall grass fields. The Force Unleashed was also a pretty major inspiration. I spent time here and there over the past couple months to come up with a good tonfa-style hilt as seen in the game, and finally accomplished it. I really liked the idea of overgrown Aztec ruins that I saw on a documentary a few weeks ago, and also incorporated that idea into this moc. Surprisingly with my recent runs to the Lego Store and collecting handfuls of those green weeds, I actually ran out! I'll be sure to grab some more next time I hit the store though Hope that you enjoyed it!

...
This is as awesome as your Mygeeto plus your Lost Unit Entry!
The Droid Commandos, while being almost identical to RBDs, look darn cool, I envy your SwampTroopers, and that badass Sith...
You've won this contest.

I'd like to see the leaves on the tree spread out a little more....
Not that it will matter when voting time comes.

As I said on Flickr,
Could use some more casualties on the Republic side and could be a bit more hectic. But that purist Felucian is AWESOME!

Those hilts are considered Shotos, but I have never heard of a "Tonfa hilt saber."

The "Tonfa" hilt lightsabers are from the Force Unleashed.

You've obviously never heard of a tonfa or a nightstick...or played Dynasty Warriors. 'oh:
And if you want to be technical, its a GUARD shoto. A Shoto hilt is what Yoda uses.
Re: Mission to Yavin 4: Recover and Maintain all Sith Holocrons
Dang...
Why must you be so awesome at times?? It gets annoying after awhile...
(and do you have permit to have all those Kashyyyk scouts? It MUST be illegal to have that many! )

Re: Mission to Yavin 4: Recover and Maintain all Sith Holocrons
No, you fail. You said it was a Shoto, what Yoda uses. This is a GUARD shoto, what Maris Brood uses. And in the real-world, its called a tonfa/nightstick.
Re: Mission to Yavin 4: Recover and Maintain all Sith Holocrons
................ This is...well...amazing... I wish you hadn't have entered...at least I had some sort of minuscule chance before this...
What's with all the periods?

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tonfa They're technically called Guard Shoto, but can also be refered to as tonfas.
DY- I wanted to make the leaves on the tree wider and thicker, but that's as many dark green vines I have! I need to buy more off bricklink...
Pdragon- Yeah I understand that. I had a clone and a Super Battle Droid fallen in the river, but I tried to give it more of an ambush feel to it with blasts racing across each side. Also, I'm so glad I found use in that Mars Mission Alien. I sense a Felucia moc in the figure, possibly Force Unleashed Related
Thanks for the comments so far!

Sure, I'll get a pic of him right now and post it in the minifig creation section!

Good job Revo!

Re: Mission to Yavin 4: Recover and Maintain all Sith Holocrons
Sir, you win. At everything. Seriously. We all don't stand a chance anymore. Where'd you get 5 freaking Kashyyyk Troopers? Grrrr ...Well, anyway, great MOC! I love the the battle, and all the grass.
Re: Mission to Yavin 4: Recover and Maintain all Sith Holocrons
Excellent job. Love the tall grass/swampy areas.
Re: Mission to Yavin 4: Recover and Maintain all Sith Holocrons

Re: Mission to Yavin 4: Recover and Maintain all Sith Holocrons
Wow revo this is really good.
As soon as I saw this I said "I'm screwed there is no way my MOC can win or even get close"
I like the cave there with the water coming out of it. The droid commando was a nice idea, though I would have given him a sword in his hand and make it so he is jumping down to kill the clones. Once again good work.
Ps. What is your general made of?

No! Don't think that you're screwed! I build to help inspire and challenge members to become better builders. They have to strive and be determined to beat good mocs (which is entirely possible because I don't have that many pieces). I was actually going to do that with the droid commando, but decided against it do to confined space, lack of transparent pieces, and it ruining the right photgraphy angles/poses I wanted to get with the figs. I'm glad you noticed the cave It actually goes pretty far back and has swamp weeds in it, but it's so dark you can't see that far. Originally I was going to put some sith holocrons in there but the darkness prevented it. My general is made up of a Mars Mission fig. I'm going to take pictures of him tonight and post him in the minifig creations section.
PhiMa- I have 5 turbo tanks so that's how I got 5 of the troopers. The other 10 were bought off bricklink. I need 21 more for a full platoon...
Rook and Others- Thanks
