Jabiim POW: Downed Pilots Rescue Vig(Easter Challenge)
This vignette was created for the 54th vs. 76th Corps Easter Vignette Challenge. Rules were to build atop an 8x8 baseplate (with unlimited overhang), to create a vignette showing the most sacrificial thing a Clone Trooper could do for his brothers. My vignette depicts two 54th Eclipse Corps pilots who've been shot down and captured by Separatist forces after an attempted bombing of a Separatist holdout on Jabiim. They've been taken inside a deflector shield protecting the holdout, and bound to poles with energy bindings. After losing contact with the pilots, the Republic decided to begin their siege bombardment on the shield. However, a third downed pilot who was part of the same downed squad, watched the capture of his brethren and dug down deep in no man's land as he was caught in the cross-hairs of the Republic siege. Rather than retreat towards friendly forces, he daringly decided to dig under the deflector shield- and the protective energy-gate beams in front of it, in order to retrieve his captured brothers. Borderline suicidal, he releases a thermal detonator in the tunnel he had dug, blasting a hole on the surface next to his brothers, nearly killing himself. He then blasts a lone Security Droid who has been shocked with the explosion underneath his feet, and prepares and prepares to escort his brethren back from behind enemy lines.
Front shot of the vignette.
Another front snot of the vignette.
Side shot of the vignette. The three blue dishes up top are supposed to be hits on the deflector shield from the Republic siege.
Another view. Separatists lined the front of the shield with energy-gate beams which would prevent Republic troops from entering the shield.
Back shot. I had fun with the energy bindings on the pilots wrists. To give a better sense of realism in their bindings, I took the arms out of their sockets and switched sides before pulling them back into the 90 degree position.
The Security Droid falls with a cool steady blast from the crazy pilot.
The two POWs stare in confusion towards their savior emerging from the hole (or in retardation, depending on what you think the clone's faces look like).
Top shot of the vig. I ended up coming out 3 studs on the left of the baseplate, and 1 stud on the right.
The deflector shield takes some direct hits as the energy-gate beams are projected in front. One of the Pilot's helmets has been put atop a blaster driven into the ground, as a warning to the Republic Forces.

I really like the shots on the energy shield and the energy bindings! Nice work!

Amazing.
The cavern is pretty cool, as is your 3 Clone Pilots, but the Deflector Shield is what really makes it awesome.
Good work again, my friend.

Cavern Is pretty nifty! I like the MOC! The actual Jabiim comic makes me love this even more!
Re: Jabiim POW: Downed Pilots Rescue Vig(Easter Challenge)
Incredible...
What else can I say, the scenery is great, all the detail, this is just amazing. Great idea for the deflector sheild.

The faces leave a lot for an active imagination. The first thing that popped into my head was them rolling their eyes and going 'What the hell is he doing here? The damn droid was just bringing us breakfast.'
I like how the brown extenders are used to extend the base.

Oh, good job revo. I'm glad I'm not in your corps...
One suggestion: Maybe you should have made it more than one TD, and had him holding some more... Or maybe even a stick of dynamite...

The sheilds are really cool.
This would of been a cool April contest! Ah well, nice idea whoever thought it up!

That looks great LegoRevolution, the only thing is is that I don't really see the sacrifice in it because the trooper was able to destroy the droid and get to the other pilots.

The Pilot nearly killed himself to save his fellow pilots.

I did read the description and I know he almost killed himself from the thermal detonator but I thought that the meaning of this contest was supposed to be where a clone would get himself killed and save his brothers by doing so.

The Tunnel idea was executed to perfection, but I don't get the Blue pieces.

Re: Jabiim POW: Downed Pilots Rescue Vig(Easter Challenge)
Nice! I like the overall idea, and the tunnel is just win. The shield is a bit...well odd, but therefor the handcuffs are pretty sweet.
Re: Jabiim POW: Downed Pilots Rescue Vig(Easter Challenge)
The concept is neat, but some of it was poorly executed.
One thing, the soil is studless. Why? Studless rocks or soil makes it look like wood.
Why are all those blue lightsaber blades holding up a pilot helmet? It looks like the Republic is shooting in that one spot with the pilot helmet mysterious floating on top.
But that tunnel is excellent! I also love how the POWs were tied to the poles.
So, a good MOC overall!

Because it usually looks better on MOCs. But on this one I might oppose to that.
Re: Jabiim POW: Downed Pilots Rescue Vig(Easter Challenge)
Well, Jabiim is a pretty muddy planet, maybe that's why it's all smooth. And the gun hold the helmet, not the blue lightsaber tricks.
One problem with the story: If they are fighting Separatist holdouts, shouldn't they be in phase II, and be the Empire, not Republic?

I like the light-sabers sticking out, that was a nice idea. And I like the sort of "hole" in the ground. Very nice work!
Re: Jabiim POW: Downed Pilots Rescue Vig(Easter Challenge)
Fantabuloso Moc! I really like the merge of the different elements, like the shield and the tunnel. And the flag makes things even more war-like. You're a magical builder.

This thing is great.
I like everything, the design the use of details, good work.

If there was anyone out there who understands what I was doing and how I executed this moc, it would definitely be Awesome-o-saurus. On Jabiim it rained often, which obviously means the soil would become wetter and harder to stand up. The smooth tiles give a sense of muddy and wet ground. The only thing I would've changed is if I had anymore of those 1x1x2/3 slope bricks- I would've strewn them about the hole where the blast came from. Plus I was trying out a new studless tiled-elevation technique I saw on the pathway in the following picture:
-The helmet is indeed held up by a gun so be careful and try to catch the little details I cram in there
I forget who asked this, but I stated that the Republic forces lost contact with the downed pilots (and therefore presumed they were dead) so they began the siege on the shield. All firepower was not concentrated to a single spot but rather all over the shield, this is a vignette and therefore just a tiny piece of a much larger scene. If I had some smaller transparent beams I would've used them to try and cover up a little better rather than the big ones that were used.
Also Awesome-o-saurus, there were 2 battles on Jabiim during the clone wars- and both were in Phase I I presume- check the link I provided to Jabiim. Also Phase II does not mean they're the Empire! Phase III was for stormtrooper armor
Thanks for all the comments so far guys!

Wow, this is amazing for the size Revo, I think you see some clones on Jabiim in the old clone wars series wearing ponchos with muddy boots.
