Cutting a backpack

Post by DarthPineapple on Sun Apr 26, 2009 9:20 am

I want to cut the upper 'roll' off this piece, but like to keep the roll itself It might come in handy. I know some of you did this to use these backpacks on clone troopers? So what did you use? A knife? A small saw? Also, does anyone have any tips on how to do this? I don't want to mess up.

Thanks in advance.

I did it once. What I did it cut the roll off, using a relatively sharp knife, then sand down the backpack where it was to smoothen it out. Simple!

Yep, I did that once with a pocket knife. Cut my thumb pretty badly but got the roll off. Razz

Yeah I tried this same thing about a year ago with a brown backpack for my swamp troopers. It looks great and the helm. does fit. I use a box cutter on everything, haven't got cut yet! Laughing

This is a very easy cut to make. Just make a cut with an xacto knife right where the roll connects to the backpack. Make sure it's a straight cut. Smile

I recommend a dremel. Cut with it, then use an x-acto knife to shave it down. Works like a charm.

As I already said, I want to keep the roll instead of destroying it.

My dad just cut them for me, he used a small saw and was still able to save most of the roll which I wanted to use. It looks awesome! Smile

Yea, it looks easy to cut, because it is made with some of the flimsier plastic.

I wanted the same, the answer is dremel, or if you have a knife but I don't so I would suggest dremel.

Use plant clippers, they work like a charm, only you may want to file down the edges when your down, it'll look better.
