Does anyone know how to use this stuff WELL? I have some extra sculpy I found, and am getting very annoyed, I am trying to make an ep. 2 clone helmet, and a scout trooper helmet. Any ideas? Thanks

Re: Clay/sculpy
Sure i can help First off do you have a space/racer helmet? if so use that as a base. Put a minifig head underneath fill the visor hole with clay and make it even and smooth. Next make the nose the size you want it and add it next visor roll out three very small pieces of clay. Put on horizantil and two vertical make sure they connect and shape a visor. Add any other details you want and bake right below 200 degrees for fifteen min ( with minifig head in helmet. Remove it from the oven/microwave/toaster and let it cool for ten min. then paint. I hope this helped if you have any other questions pm me. here's my clone scout from the clone wars movie: http://www.flickr.com/photos/30064848@N04/2896807827/

ODST7, that's pretty messy, but still great! I wish I had some clay lying here...

Yes. I'll post a clay tutorial soon and DP if you have a craft store near you go to it a pack of sculpy is only like two bucks a pack.darth yoda wrote:Does anybody know how to make a good mold with sculpy, and then make more, so you could make like ten?

You need to put the sculpy in an oven or something. After awhile it should harden. RecluseMage from MCN has a tutorial for casting, which will allow you to make multiples of one item. Unfortunately, MCN is down at the moment, so you'll have to wait awhile.

Re: Clay/sculpy
To my knowledge, Emily (RM) uses resin for casting and molds, not clay. Not that you could cast in clay anyway...

No, you've mistaken what I've said. You make the clay piece the base, then you cast it in resin.

Before I yell and scream like a crazy man at you for bumping a really old topic, is this a: “What kind of paints should I use on a sculpty/putty helmet question? (Which would be new and relavent infoto add to this thread.) Or other? In which case read the rules.

It is pretty relavent, IMO

My brother uses........
Citadel Colours Paint, with a fine tipped brush. He made some with 'Sunburst yellow' like:
and these
and this
Hope that helps! Oh, BTW, he doesn't use tape, but if you're painting for the first time, test on a minifigure you don't mind about. Also when using tape, make sure it's sealed down correctly or the paint will seep in.

While it is a good advise, please don't add to bumped topics.
