Boonie hat- WIP!

I've been out of customization for quite some time now and ever since the new SW BA I've been hankering to make some SW customs, but I am still a little rusty so I'm trying something else. a Boonie hat! I plan to use a Indy Fedora as a bas melt it down slightly so I can bend the rim. I am testing the heat and time on TLG 1x2 bley tiles. The current best result I have had is 2 minutes at 275 degrees. I am trying one more to see if it will work before I test the fedora. The oven just dinged so I'll go check it out!

Glad you're going back to customizing, and more importantly, I'm glad you're going back to Star Wars.

UPDATE!

The hat is going well and I like where it's headed. I'm gonna continue seeing the that my burned fingers are no longer red. The only problem is when I was making it so the rim was flat the front part moved and melted into the inside space where the heads goes. It can still fit on, but not as well as I would like, but it does give it a little more of a military feel! Worse comes to worse I'll end up with a drill officer hat. (Like that would be so bad! )

What would make this a perfect piece would be to cast it with a ridged brim. Can't wait to see what you come up with though, as you always tend to have something worth looking at.

I tried to make that too. I made one with clay, it didn't turn out to well. I'll have to try that. Thanks for the inspiration!

I finished up the Boonie hat (I think) and I'm pretty proud of it! I didn't make the back at all wavy since it wouldn't look very good because the differences in brim length. I will post pic's soon, but I got to go eat!
