The Lonely Outpost

Post by pdragon27 on Sat Jun 27, 2009 12:51 am

GALLERY

Built on the Lonely Mountain. But not necessarily in Middle Earth. With its owner long gone, this outpost has suffered... of loneliness. Every awaiting, never sleeping, with its grand eye, it waits. For its master to return.

Darth Yoda challenged me to stop building vehicles and to build something with rocks and vegetation... this is my first try at rocks, and with my dwindling supply of gray, I SNOTed most of this MOC. I hope you enjoy!

Nice stairs, though the rocks could've been done a bit better (Smaller slopes), it's pretty nice.

Ladder is pretty cool. The rocks are pretty well done, though put a tile on the brown pieces. Otherwise, looks nice.

Eh its pretty good looking for the size. I like the latter the best of all though. The one thing I would do before making a MOC with rocks is look at other examples here are a few that come to mind:

Dy's
Tekka Croe's

This one is just an example of what it can look like with different colors ect. It is no means done. Infact I am about to upload new pics so check it out in a few hours.

Okay, I asked DY for help.

I practically live on Tekka's stream.

Now please, READ. I know the rocks are bad. They use nearly all of my slopes. THIS IS THE BEST I CAN DO RIGHT NOW. Get it through your thick skulls.

I know what you said PD no need to get mad. I was simply pointing out good and semi good examples of rocks on a large scale. There is no need to make them that big. If you had a few more slopes and maybe a 12x12 plate you could make a small yet good jungle MOC. I was just showing you examples.

Oh, forget it. If I hadn't seen good, no, great examples of rocks, don't you think I'd be saying "these are awesome rocks!" instead of "these rocks suck"?

For being challenged to make a switch from vehicles to buildings with vegetation, this is a pretty good start. Not the best, but a nice attempt.

That sucks.... I hope to see an update somewhere in the near future when you find them. Maybe add some mini pine trees? That could be cool.
