14,000 piece Solomon's Temple

About 14,000 pieces and a surplus of $1000 went into building this minifig scaled Solomon's Temple. The entire project of designing, funding, and building took thirteen months. All of the dimensions and designs have been inspired and are as accurate as possible to the descriptions and measurements found in the Bible. The funny thing is that the bricklink orders were funded by selling minifigs on ebay, thus the circle is complete.

The Corinthian Columns you made are simply astounding. I simply adore the texturing and the piece usage there, and throughout the MOC as a whole. The actual temple is rather plain, but the various features outside of it are much nicer. However that can be excused due to the fact that you're gunning for historical accuracy, and I for one appreciate that - even if I'm not well versed in biblical history.

This is not just an MOC, however. This is art . It's a masterpiece which indubitably took a great deal of effort to put together. Bravo, sir.

It's certainly a beautiful thing, but if you don't mind me asking, what's the point? Is it going on display somewhere?

How much did that cost? Also nice temple.

I had always built star wars, halo, and everything else, and for a month or so I had a desire to build something Biblical, so I decided on the temple.
As for displaying, I would like to take it to Brickfair, next month, but whether or not I actually will is still unknown. Other than that, I have not planned on future displays.

As for the studs, I would prefer to cover them with tiles, but that would be more money, and would mean it wasn't done yet, so through laziness and lack of funds, I am going to leave it like this.

And on the level of detail, yes the outside is plain, but I think the inside makes up for it.

That's incredible ! Completely disregard my first statement, for the interior most certainly does surpass anything I ever expected! Can we say novel piece usage? Or brilliant implementation of standard techniques?

The out side is ok but the inside is great! This just shows how big it was back then.

Wow, that just blows my mind. Been wanting to create the Jewish temples starting with the tent of meeting and working my way up to Herod's Temple. Thanks for the inspiration.

The boxiness of the outside looks simply fascinating, and almost deceiving when you reach the inside, where all that detail is packed inside...

But then again, having a thousand bucks makes just about anything possible.

Nah, I really do love it, and the northern endowment on the pillars afront of the temple look great.

Early estimates were $400 for the main building. Then I found out my height measurements were wrong, and that it was too short, along with underestimating the cost everywhere else, resulted in a budget much higher than initially expected.

As for researching the articles inside, I had to figure out how to build the cherubim in the Holy of Hollies, which is a lot harder when you don't know what they look like. Many renditions have them on four legs others have them on two. This resulted in a lot of confusion, and I was able to get some help, and it eventually all worked out (just a sample of my research experiences).
