Grievous Modified Design

Post by legorevolution on Thu Aug 06, 2009 8:16 pm

Well I based most of my design off of Larry Lars' Grievous. The basic changes I made to this his design was that I added 2 technic axel pin things into the mid section of Grievous connecting to the torso via tube. I also came up with my own claw feet design for him.

Forward attack!

Arms can be changed out for different poses.

Legs are pose able too. I was happy with the feet design. Surprisingly sturdy.

Again, this fig is super pose able, a little flimsy at times, but much better than TLC's fail design.

Speaking of which here's a comparison between the two. My design is more accurate and too-scaled to Grievous in the show/movie.

Arma attached and without lightsabers. The claw pieces in the back can be rotated to help add to the pose ability.

Side shot.

Back shot.

Exploed view for those of you who want to build a better and more accurate Grievous. Wink

Is the toilet really needed? If you could manage it without that one piece it would be the best I've ever seen! Shocked

Grievous actually has an armor piece there though. I tried it without the toilet and it looked pretty stupid. You can give it a shot if you want though. Wink

Change the feet and the pins to light bley, if they're even made in that color.

Nice work, Legorevo.

Actually I don't think I will be to your luck. Wink I was just compelled to try some things out and it worked. I'm thinking of my first large scaled project- Utapau.

Alpha- As I've said on flickr the lighting on his feet absolutely sucked. They look way darker in the pics than in real life. Also the problem with going light bley is that (I'm almost positive off the top of my head) TLC doesn't make the claw pieces in the same color. :/

Aw, man! This is sweet! But as I said on Flickr, I think the feet need a bit of light gray in them...

This is sweet. I really love it all! I wish i had the right pieces for it. So can the body rotate left and right? I dont recal any poses with it twisted at all. If there isnt a pic, id like to see one. Thanks!

Loving the body. Arms look strange to me, though. I'd use the old skeleton arms and a white hand. It's a little longer, but it's more flexible. And you need to add shoulders if you can.

Just to drop it by you, Grievous has 3 'toes' in front. So if you added one more to each foot, this would be THE best grievous ever!

whiteboy (H.U) wrote:Just to drop it by you, Grievous has 3 'toes' in front. So if you added one more to each foot, this would be THE best grievous ever!

Somtimes you have to sacrifice minor details so overall it'll look good. Had I added 3 toes his feet would've been bigger than his torso, and also 3 hands cannot fit on that small piece. Also I'll try to add some shots of the torso turning along with a cape later.

Insernamehere- The arms do look a little strange in the first pic I'll admit. It's because I stuck the 'claw' pieces out too far. They can be pushed in a ways. By adding shoulders the fig looks waaay too wide, but I like the mechanical arms because I think it matches Grievous better. Just a taste of opinion I spose.

Pdragon- nope no modifying of bricks here, still a purist. Wink It was a lego flex tube. Like the rope lego produces, they allow it to be cut with scissors.

Halen- Curious, I'm interested to see what you come up with. Wink

OMG that is freaky. I built a med. droid last night using alot of those some peices. Shocked I was actually thinking about making a Grevious last night also, I just didn't have the right colors.
Anyways, it's really great. But what I don't get is that grevious is never the same color. I mean sometimes he looks like he's been bleached, and in another episode, he's tan, or dorsn't seem to have as much armor.

Nice jod Revo! I too did the same thing, I built the body and was happy with it but I wasn't happy with the feet. I made a different foot design and mine works pretty good, anyway keep it up!
