541st Vendetta #20: Deceivingly Apparent

Post by Sialboats on Sun Sep 27, 2009 10:16 pm

Standard comic. Sloppy effects, poor flow, and it really does show that I put this out in a hurry. The next comic will be of a higher standard... as will, really, all from this point on. In fact, I'm hoping to make them frakking epic Razz .

This one is just plot progression, and as such, the flaws are evident.

It was nice to see more action in the city. I like the one frame between the commander and the newly appointed officer. The use of the word son made me Laughing. I liked the effects in the ship alot. And the ambush was very well done IMO.Over all this was a good comic.

But who is Akrah?

815th Tactical Strike Corps Jedi High General. Kaier's boss. Badass. All pictures of her in my comics are really "uncanonical", as Jinja and J4ke haven't ever actually gotten out a real picture of her for me to work with Razz . I just based her the best I could around her bio.

The Jinja Ninja wrote:

Jedi General Avani Akrah

A real stone-cold tactician, she was willing to sacrifice clones to get the job done quickly, despite this ideal clashing with the Jedi codes. At odds with her seniors because of this, Akrah had been denied the opportunity to take a second padawan, following the knighting of her first just prior to the outbreak of the war.

Born on Arkania, an industrial planet in the Perave system, she was caught up in the Arkanian Revolution in 50 BBY. Her parents fought on the side of the Renegades, and were met with bitter defeat. As a result, she had a strict military upbringing until the Jedi found her, perhaps explaining her coldness towards others - especially the clone troopers serving in the 815th. Despite treating them almost as battle droids, she has nonetheless earned the reluctant respect of her troops and peers, due to her skill in lightsaber combat and offensive force powers.

General Akrah was among the Jedi taskforce to answer the call to rescue Master Kenobi on Geonosis. During the battle she became the de facto commander of a regiment of troops when their commander was killed. Her tactical deployment of heavy units allowed the Republic to position its SPHA-T cannons to destroy several Trade Federation Core Ships. Akrah was one of the unrecognised heroes of that battle. Upon her return to Coruscant, the Council promoted her, along with several others who had shown great potential on the field, to High Jedi General. Akrah preferred that title very much over Jedi Master; she even wore a modified officer’s uniform in combat, under traditional Jedi robes. Her command, the 815th Tactical Strike Corps, suited her well.

This part could be up for change... See the new thread in the Corps section, Sial.

As for the comic, it's pretty much as you described it. Nothing terrible, nothing fantastic, nothing to say about it, really. Only that you used your instead of you're a coupla times, and it's spelt Bothawui. Razz

Good as always. Can we expect a large scale battle coming up in the next one?

It's not just apparent: It's deceivingly apparent! Razz

The sections seemed shorter than usual, but as you said, they were rushed; they didn't lose that unique quality you bring home with every comic, though.

While you won't see a whole battalion in action, in one scene...

...yes, you can expect it to feel as though there's a big battle going on - even though you're seeing only say four or so of the block-by-block skirmishes at a time.

I think I should be able to pull it off Wink .

Ok so I don't know if my mind is playing tricks on be or what but this just dawned upon me. The Jedi knight ordered the Captain not to give the order for orbital bombardment on the planet when the entered orbit. And in one scene the Equinox leader says that their "contact" or whatever he said they were was pretty high up there. Does this mean that the Jedi is a turn coat? Cause not only did she, I am assuming this is the Jedi who ordered them not to bombard the planet, order the Captain not to bombard the planet but she must have let the Equinox leader know. Am I right?

Razz

That's the beauty of it. Akrah might have given it for another reason, Akrah could be getting orders herself from a traitor knowingly or unknowingly, it could be unrelated to her, it could be someone underneath her command (I.E: McCulbert), so forth.
