Squad 42 VI Official Preview Thread
I'm going to give the CABG more coverage than anywhere outside of my website (which no-one goes on anyway), including stills and maybe even video clips in the next few months of production.
To start you off, here's the film's first official trailer.
Trailer One
J4ke's Disgorger FTW.

CABG EXCLUSIVE:
The Bascillion Sand Worm
Cody, Waxer and Boil in the first photo shot from production!
More is on it's way!

It may not be much, and it may not reveal much, but that's what previews are for! Looks great!

Honestly, it looks like crap. I hate what you are doing with the computer generated background. If you ar going to do that, at least add studs so it looks like LEGO, kinda like SmeagolStudios. But right now, it looks like trash, especially with uber-lagging HD.
Admin - Why don't you just tell him to stop building all together? Seriously this is not at all appropriate. Provide constructive criticism, not destructive criticism.

Well, don't play it in HD then. I'm sure from 80,000 feet up any lego studs would not be visible.

Come on PD, how the hell is he gonna do that? Smeagol is one thing, Gareth is another.

Okay, but still, the computer generated background looks awful next to real LEGO.

That wasn't real lego.

Thats not what I meant. I know the landing craft were CGI also. THey looked like poop from LDD. No offense. But hey, its your movie. Do what you want with it.

As long as you know you're a complete jackass pdragon, I've got nothing left to say to you.
Re: Squad 42 VI - Official Preview Thread UPDATED, Oct 4th
Just becuase he doesn't like your movie doesn't make him a jackass. He's simply voicing his thoughts.
The way he voices them may be extremely rude, but that's his problem.
As for the trailer, it was supremely boring, but it looked good. The effects, the sound, and the builds all looked quite fine, I just found that it lacked anything exciting. We saw a open plain with nothing of interest, and then we rewatched the opening of Rookies.

The rudeness is what I was emphasising. The fact that there was nothing to look at was the exact point. It was intended to create a sense of mystery as to what the ships are doing there.

I don't mind being called a jacka$$. Especially by you. I'm just saying, some people won't like the change from LEGO to CGI.

Good. It's not all CGI, I'm just using it for the scenes that would be impossible for me to do in stop motion.
Re: Squad 42 VI - Official Preview Thread UPDATED, Oct 4th
Well, if you got your hands on one of those landers, it'd look a lot better.

I have got my hands on one of them (nearly), that's for when it makes impact!
Re: Squad 42 VI - Official Preview Thread UPDATED, Oct 4th
Then why don't you green-screen it like you did with AN? I'm sure it can't be bigger than a Republic Cruiser.

It's not worth the many hours of work for something you only see on screen for a few seconds. I think it looks better, you don't. Let's leave it at that please.
Re: Squad 42 VI - Official Preview Thread UPDATED, Oct 4th
I thought it was pretty epic, but it was short for a preview. It looks OK, but I'd like to see more action. When the pods hit the ground, the graphics used for impact weren't as satisfactory as other graphic-use of yours.
Re: Squad 42 VI - Official Preview Thread UPDATED, Oct 4th
I think I told you enough.

They didn't hit the ground. They were burning up in the atmosphere...
Re: Squad 42 VI - Official Preview Thread UPDATED, Oct 4th
OK, that makes sense. But, why did Gareth say, "Yes, that was the WuzzupRook Separatist Landing Craft" , when we never saw one?
Re: Squad 42 VI - Official Preview Thread UPDATED, Oct 4th
At least i got something right! Sorry, meant boarding craft.

Re: Squad 42 VI - Official Preview Thread UPDATED, Oct 4th
That's funny. Squad 42 VI is going to be great! Why not incorporate the 402nd in a way?
Re: Squad 42 VI - Official Preview Thread UPDATED, Oct 4th
It's short, the title work is iffy, the CGI is rough-hewn; but it's better than nothing. The point of this type of trailer is to mystify the insufferable YouKiddie crowds, and whet his followers' appetites for the main course of VI. It's purpose is not to astound, but to create interest and be "better than nothing". When looked upon in that light, it's fairly good .
My only complaints are that the CGI could have a little higher fidelity, and the title effects could be just a bit more impressive. A shimmering hologram with that text displayed on a black background would have been better, in my opinion .
I look forward to seeing some more footage in the later trailers!
And PD, you are being an a-s-s-h-o-l-e. You don't need to upbraid and berate people to say you don't like what they've done. You want to log off, and rethink your posting habits. Because the only thing that "sucks" or is a "piece of crap" has been you for the greater portion of this month and the prior.

Re: Squad 42 VI - Official Preview Thread UPDATED, Oct 4th
Thank you for some actually useful criticism Sial, other than just flat out abuse! That's not the best CGI I admit - some of the space scenes I've been working on look alot better, and yes, the titles after look crap. I was using a differant software when making this trailer, but I'll probably use shiny over-the-top big 3D lettering for the next trailer.
