Front Lines: Attack On Mon Calamari

Post by CloneCommandoXion on Sun Nov 08, 2009 1:09 am

This is a 18x18 vignette of my attack on Mon Calamari set. By set I mean I will be making more of these. Wink I appologise for crappy pics but there is no where in my house that has good lighting, anyways on to the moc. Mon Calamari as you know it is an Ocean world with floating cities using giant ballast tanks. Their cities have a stone type architectural design and are covered in gorgeous colourfull moseaics. Thats why I decided to build this. The 602nd legion is on their way to liberate the Calamari from the CIS.

I hope you like it guys! Any comments or critism appreciated. Smile

Fixed title for you, unless of course you made up Calamarie or something. Otherwise, it looks pretty good. I like the mix of colors. Can we have a backstory?

Not bad, fix the studs near the steps, and maybe position the trooper taking cover a bit more. Oh, and perhaps another Droid.

Nah, good job.

It is a bit plain, only some figs and a wall. The mosaic could be a bit more intricate.

Have you looked closely at the walls and floor? Could you do that?

It's quite simple, so yes. The moc is good and I'm sure it is the start of a good set, but compared to some of the other thing CCX has done, it isn't quite his best.

It's overall a great MOC, but don't mix pieces with and without studs like you did on the floor, it ruins the MOC and makes it look messy when it shouldn't. Wink

It's ok, it could use some more detail on the wall and if I were you I would make the ground completely studless. Wink

It ISN'T simple. The floor is intricately designed with a coloring pattern; perhaps you're colorblind.

And perhaps you're farsighted, because atop the wall endowed with two pillars is a statue of a Mon Calamarian. I guess that's too mundane for you.

Nice work; I like the small but detailed setting. Smile

Agreed. The floor is a bit to overdone, but I love the statue on top and the detail here. Pretty well done!

I ran out of tiles, this was the only way I could get my coloured pattern to work. Sad

I wasn't expecting this to be based on Mon Calamari until I saw that nifty lil' statue. Razz

The building's design almost looks like a palace, which is pretty neat, plus the floor tiling is really good. And like always, Thia looks Awesome. Nice job Xion!

I'm glad people like the statue. Razz I wasn't sure if it looked good but I guess it does reading your opinions. My next 18x18 will be a Felucia model. Smile

I like this. The statue is a nice touch and the colors all seem to flow together. I would have added more droids and maybe make the troopers look like they are doing more ten standing there.
