Aggressive ReConnaissance 170
Getting the bricklink orders in took awhile, but it is finally finished.
I was inspired by Pepa Quin's stellar UCS model, but wanted to use more snot techniques. The shape isn't easy, but structural integrity was the toughest part with this model. Because the wingspan is so big I have to turn it sideways to fit through the doorway. Again thank you nnenn for helping with the wings. It is minifig scale, and my biggest model since Solomon's Temple.
All in all it was a fun structurally challenging build, and I got to use one of my nose art decals on top of it all.

Wow! This is really good! I especially like the smoothness of the top of the wings!
And I'd love to see it with the new clone pilots!

Wow, truly epic! I especially love the engines.
EDIT: Oh, wow someone posted before me and used the same adjective.

Wow this turned out really good, though I think the nose looks a little short.

Wow, that's an awesome model. Gear use of sideway building. Those engines are sweet too!

Perfect in every way. If Rook doesn't finish the venator this month you will hands down win moc of the month for sure. My favorite part is the engines. Overall an epic win.

Wow blackninjatom, this is probably the best ARC-170 I've ever seen, it has such great detail on it and has so much SNOT on it, I wouldn't be suprised if you got MOC of the month with this.

Re: Aggressive ReConnaissance 170
Yeah, the nose is supposed to slope forward, but unfortunately I wasn't able to incorporate that. I think the Arc-170 just has a huge width to length ratio (like 3:1), but the nose could be a little short.Funky Cow wrote:Wow this turned out really good, though I think the nose looks a little short.
Oh I should also give credit to the designer of the single P-61 black widow on Brickshelf. I always thought that plane was very similar to the Arc 170 and was my main inspiration for the canopies.

The SNOT wings are very epic. Nice work!

Re: Aggressive ReConnaissance 170
I really like the snot used in this. The engines are fantastic as well. However I do have a few suggestions: 1. change the cockpits to some other piece- those look to blocky 2. elongate the front nose of the fighter 3. change the 'shoped picture so the fighters' noses are facing towards us instead of away! Other than that, great work.
Re: Aggressive ReConnaissance 170
When you say elongate the nose do you mean make the whole nose section longer or create the sloped nose effect?
