2010 sets have been categorized as overpriced, such as $29 for the 176 piece swamp speeder. What do you think of these prices?
Swamp Speeder
Lego has released the 8091 Republic Swamp Speeder, and it is availble in stores and on Lego Shop @ Home. We had heard rumors of this set for a while and even seen a few blurry prelims emerge, but the general concensus was that this was a summer set. Apparently not!
Here is the Republic Swamp speeder in its official Lego image glory:
Some stats:
- 176 Pieces
- $29.99 USD / 29.99 - 39.00 EUR
- Five minifigures including an all new Jedi, Barris Offee
Well by a quick glance at the stats of this set, some fans immidiately are turned off. Though this is certainly an attractive set, the pricing is outrageous some say. $29.99 for 176 pieces is not a good ratio by any standard.

Unfortunately we must contend with this price, but this leaves many wondering, will this be a reoccuring trend? Please vote in the poll off to the side.

Re: Swamp Speeder
I think $30 for this set isn't overpriced.

I picked the middle one. I never scrap Star Wars sets, so the amount of parts is not a problem. The figs are what make this set, so it will sell well I think.

Lovely new Jedi, horrible price. I would much rather have the price down another $5-$10 with no droids. Oh well... I guess playability is what counts with LEGO.

| Fix, who wonders if the insane prices over in Europe have done this to other members as well... Can you say brainwashing? . . . Good! XP |

Be happy with this price, it could have been $40 if Europeans and Australians didn't pay your oil rise taxes.
But no, lets all whine again, we have the cheapest price in the world by far, but who cares? More Lego for less money! We want sets even cheaper!
LEGO IS THE US WASN'T, ISN'T AND WON'T EVER BE OVERPRICED, SO IF THERE IS ONE COUNTRY THAT CANNOT COMPLAIN ABOUT PRICES, IT'S THE US. The rest of the world pays for half your Lego.

I complain about US citizens complaining, not about my own prices, which are even higher than yours.

What was that Tac?

I was never complaining about this speeder and look I'm American.DarthPineapple wrote:Tac wrote:DP, chill. Us Brit's have to pay $50 as well and we don't complain as much as you.

If you want it that badly I could buy some and sell them at a reasonable price.
So 21 Euro's equals about 30 USD. Does that sound fair?

Re: Swamp Speeder
Why not just buy it on BL from a US store?

Shipping would cost the same. Plus I still but it at €40.
