Brief History of Senate Commandos

Their duties were strictly confined to the protection of the legislature. Its members were drawn from the ranks of the Senate Guard and consisted of top scoring experts that were assigned on high risk missions.[2] They served as an aggressive and highly trained police force that operated on Coruscant but at times conducted special missions to distant worlds.

The members of this Senate Commando wore blue battle uniform similar to the Senate Guard. This was actually a heavier version of the Guardsmen armor and did not wear cloaks. By discarding the heavy ceremonial robes, they were able to fight more effectively in battle situations. It was a flexible customizable form of field armor and allowed them to off the deadliest of hired killers and bounty hunters.Their armor was blaster resistant and was similar to that of the clone troopers. Unlike the clone army, the Senate Commandos were formed of birth-born recruits. Also instead of the standard blaster rifle, they wielded a DC-!5A blaster rifle and came equipped with tactical thermal detonators.

Senate Commandos were one of the few non-clone units capable of undertaking special missions that operated within the Galactic Republic

Due to mass corruption and the increasing influence of the Separatist Crisis, the loyalty of non-clone military personnel was constantly in question, especially given the controversial legacy of the Senate Guard, which in turn led to the formation of the even more controversial Red Guard. In this regard the Senate Commandos, while highly trained and skilled for protecting Coruscant and taking on field missions, were ultimately not as reliable as the all-loyal clones. This was evident when Captain Argyus was bribed by Count Dooku into rescuing Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray from the Republic.

Part of Story Line
Clip(name not finalized) and 3 of his younger brothers climbed the ranks of the senate commandos. Clip and his brothers were raised to believe in honor, truth and liberty which is why the family was so proud of their achievements.

Clip and brothers were very diversely trained in close combat and ranged tactical combat. Though the standard Issue weapon for a senate commando was a DC-15A, Clip preferred his personally modified version which was later classified as aDC-15AM.

Clip’s natural sense of honor made him feel on edge since the rumors and doubts of the ever elite, Senate commandos, started to spread and once the incident with Nute Gunray happened, Clip new it was time to send in for a transfer.

His 3 brothers agree and they were sent to meet up with the Jedi Council and see where they could be best utilized. On their way to the Senate was infiltrated and Bounty hunter Cad Bane and his associates wiped out a large portion of the Senate commandos.

Instead of feeling self pitty the brothers took it as a sign that they were moving in the right direction.

Brief recap of what’s next.

Basically the 4 senate commandos joined with 5 clone troopers to form a squad. They kept the blue special armor but modified their helmets to demonstrate their detachment from the senate guard/commandos. Though they had to prove themselves loyal to the clone troopers, they quickly won their trust as the clones saw the senate commandos fearlessly fight on their side.

I want to thank TB for giving me the idea of making a combo of clone and senate commandos. I have the image in my head of what I will be making for this squad but first I have to redo the senate commandos. I will be more patient with the drying process and spray less smaller bursts to make it look more even.

I will have the 4 commando defects Complete probably by end of next week weather permitting. But I would like some comments please.

Thanks.

That's looking very cool. I like the decels, but the gun is pretty messy. Paint that glue black, it looks much better. Wink

Overall, these are nice figures. Smile The only let down as DarthPineapple said, the glue on the gun should be painted over. Otherwise they are great. Thumbs up

Yeah, I know I just wanted to get the pictures up:P Actually this is the prototype I will be redoing most of the figure with a little more patience.

I want to Mod a blaster into looking more like the DC 15A that the commandos used or like some other Blaster.

Anyone know what the TLC blaster rifle is modeled after?

The Commandos used the DC-17m interchangeable weapons system, which does not look like any of the other Republic weapons. TLC just made their own, they don't resemble any.

According to starwars.wikia.com they used the DC-15A.

The DH-17 blaster rifle was a blaster rifle that commonly served as a primary combat weapon by Rebel soldiers during the Galactic Civil War against the Galactic Empire.

I forgot to note that most of the text I included with the description was from starwars.wikia.com.

yeah they are my decals. They weren't created for this minifig but since they were already printed I wanted to try something out.

The next version I decided will stay on this same blue to resemble TLC's senate commandos. I will customize the decal more to look like senate commandos. I will probably show you more prototypes soon. I say prototypes because I have not printed out the new decals and until I can access the shed under all the snow and temperature rises a bit I can't spray new sheets to protect them.

I already commented on the figures, so I want to tell you that you made a nice back-story for your squad. Will they join your legion?

Thats the plan Beta, I want to at least attempt to build my legion from the ground up. Or atleast one branch of the legion.

I just read Rook's post on the legion and I will be creating my jedi and senior clone commander next before I move forward with this squad.

Yeah, actually the white dots you are seeing all over it isn't paint if that is what you are referring to. That was the acrylic spray and me rushing the job and over spraying.

A lot of it was a result of the blow dryer set on heat Razz I was painting, decaling, decal softening and sealing all in one night over a 3 hour period.
