I noticed that Sharpie on a clone over time, like a few months, eventually become very hard to rub off.

What are you using to "rub it off"? Use rubbing alcohol.

Yea, a q-tip + alcohol works very well, even for permanent markers!

Works for paints as well. However, when not even rubbing alchohol works...Brasso will do wonders.
