FOR SPARTA!

Post by Tac on Thu Sep 23, 2010 7:11 pm

The general idea is this Asian Army tried to invade Sparta. The king (On horseback) and all his elitist warriors came and attacked first. They got slaughtered. The king’s horse got killed and the King got stabbed soon after. When all hope was lost the King’s second-in-command ordered all the archers to fire. What was left of the army found arrows raining down of them. The Spartans didn’t have a single casualty, but the ground in front of them was littered with arrow filled corpses. 3 weeks and 2 full up vultures later and the second-in-command leads the armies not-so-elite soldiers to their inevitable death.

Based off 300, but obviously I made this whole battle up. I know it’s not accurate; I used my imagination, I-M-A-G-I-N-A-T-I-O-N. So don’t go yelling at me ‘bout all that historical nonsense. I apologize for the crappy pictures/MOC, it’s my first time building a scene this big. It’s also my first historical MOC and it is 100% purist!

More incredibly crappy pictures in the Flickr Set.

If you are trying to base this off of the movie 300, then the rock cliff needs to be wider. It is to Thin looking. Also, make the gap from one side of the cliff to the other smaller. You want a tall cliff, with a narrow path.

I wouldn't say it is horrible, but I will say it is horrible because it isn't accurate! Kabam! Sherman BURN WITCH!!!

Razz

I like it! I think my favorite part is the Spartan flag and the vultures on the rocks.

I'm not bothered about the innaccuracy, but the fact that it's pretty much just a lot of minifigs and a few rocks does put me off somewhat.

Sweetness, what do you want for some of the Spartans? Razz
But yeah, this is a nice MOC, not much more than just a whole bunch of Spartans fighting a whole bunch of other guys.
Maybe a little more building to it would be nice Wink

Simple, pick a different landscape.

Could've made two huge cliffs where the Spartans jump from one to the other and at the bottom of the two cliffs, in the valley is some sort of forest or something. Like you said yourself:

Just imagine. Wink

I agree with Jinja and PhiMa.

I like the Spartan flag too, as JJ said. Those levers as arrows were also a neat idea. Smile

Yes! Yes! Ancient Sparta, finally someone makes a decent moc of the Spartans. Great job Tac, but you are missing 280 Spartans and about 2,000,000 more Persians, but who cares. Razz I love it.

FOR SPARTA!

Post by troopmaker on Fri Sep 24, 2010 7:42 pm

Althought I actually come from Sparta , have watched the film twice and love being historically acurate , I love it ! The way the Spartans gold their shields and spears is just perfect and the Persians look like they are not well organised (diferent armors ..... etc), which is how they should be . All in all , it' s a very nice moc if you ask me Tac , and you are one of my favorite builders Wink

Well, the flags are from the Knights Kingdom, and the helmets and shields are from Brickforge.

No the Spartans are actually from the Collectable Minifigure series. Not Brickforge. Wink

If you've been paying attention, the Spartans are actual LEGO figures. They're from the Collectable Minifigure Series 3. However, it's quite unusual for Tac to get his hands on 19 of them.

Gah, Troopa, you Ninja'd me! Razz
