A 1000 Words are Worth a 1000 Words

Post by Rook on Thu Feb 17, 2011 3:19 pm

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…

READ!

It amazes me how many people go on the internet and don’t actually read, and just “look”. Here’s a few examples you may enjoy. Note the descriptions below the blank fields that tell you what to do. It's amazing it's like someone wrote something long ago to help guide you through your journey. "Ancient words long preserved for our walk in this world. They resound... ...oh let the ancient words impart."

Example B

Example C

The rules I can understand, most people just quickly read over things and retain very little of the info. But in this case there is blank field. Below it, it says insert THIS. And some people still look at it and go, "Oh blank field, I should type something in it. What on earth should I type? *I'm a genius!* I know I'll just make something up! Wow this thing looks "

Doh!

When you log into say your email account it has two blank fields:

Username:

Password:

Do people just look at those and go…

hd%^svbdfl!#$!@vbael

asld)&(*fgwgf

…and hope that their email account will open up!? Razz

Yeah I know because if I didn't I might not still be in this place by now. Razz

But what really shocks me is those people's abilities to follow instructions. Shocked

That is kind of sad. I laugh, but I also pity them. For they can't comprehend what they read. Or they don't read. So sad.

Same here. In fact, I've never had a Mod or Admin write in colored ink on one of my posts correcting me for some thing I did wrong.

Doh! I used to be a bit like that when I first got in... My first app was rejected (I don't know why) and I got corrected a LOT of times on my first time. Then I took a short Hiatus, matured quite a bit, then came back. It still brings shame to know I could've been that bad a few years back...

I think some people treat the instructions and rules in the Constitution like those "terms of service" things you get when you download stuff. No one ever reads them and they just click OK. Razz

I don't have trouble fallowing the rules because most of them are just common sence anyways.
