My updated AT-RT

Post by Legion Dude on Sun May 15, 2011 10:24 am

Well, finally, I made a big revisit to my AT-RT. For now, you will have to do it with this. Will upload some awesome (can't say AWRSOME for some reason Mad ) WWII MOC's with my new jeeps and more.... But anyway, here's the AR-RT.

Information on the AT-RT:
The AT-RT, or All Terrain - Recon Transport, was a swift walker used by the troops of the GAR. The walkers where just as good for combat as they wore for reconnaissance or search and rescue. It had a blaster cannon and mortar launcher on the front and at the back of the seat an advanced communication system. It was 3.2 meters tall and 2.9 meters long and could reach speeds up to 90km/h.

Also, be sure to leave me a comment here

Eh, I think the connection between the main body and the legs is a bit flimsy looking. But I do love how you placed the clone. A toast!

Agreed, but it definitely looks very realistic. Overall, great job Smile

I love the legs the best on this thing.
But, That can't be comfortable for the clone.
Besides that it looks Awrsome!

No, it is actually how the clone sits. It's not a chair, but a saddle Razz .

Re: My updated AT-RT

Post by brickartist on Sun May 15, 2011 4:37 pm

Wow, I finished building mine this morning Laughing

Here are my critiques:

1.) 2 wide leg joint makes for an awkward transition.

2.) The 'Hips' thin out awkwardly.

3.) Out of place control panel.

4.) Dark grey color scheme is much less pleasing than Light grey.

I've also tried out that leg connection, I liked it at first, but then I started using a different one with the legs straight up. The shape of sideways legs looks kinda funny.

I like your approach for the armor, on of the better ones out there. Good luck on this Smile
BTW can we see those feet?

Legs look a bit on the wobbly side. Try to strengthen the connections where the joints are. But the front/top part looks very good! Wink Smile

After looking at it a couple times, I realized that the green bricks that you used just don't seem right. I don't know if there is much you can do about it but I think it should be a different green.

It looks really good, especially the legs, but it looks just a bit oversized. Surprised

Not oversized at all. Really, everyone makes it far to small. This is very good scale. Also, I know the legs look a bit flimsy, but there's nothing I can do about that. It's just not easy to make a good, and just forget about a perfect, lego AT-RT. But this is a good shot at it. And for the color, well, Flak, if you know any set with those dark green parts in it, tell me. Very unlikely you do. Also, what do you guys mean by the ''hips''? The legs are connected to the engine. That round thingy. So, anymore things you want to say. Do you guys actually realize that I made it to look like the AT-RT in the picture. Not like a practical lego playset for kids. Razz

Look at set lego star wars set 7930 or even you can go to the actual lego store which I have one pretty close to me, and you can just buy all of the pieces. I've done that a couple times and it seems to work fine. Wink

Well, as option 2 with set 7930 might work just as well. Whenever I buy a set just for that purpose I always build it first just to have a little fun with it. Surprised

Not buying any lego sets for a long time. Gonna save some money (only have about 10 euros of the 50 needed) for a 65$ Brickmania order. Weapons, helmets, etc. And, to just buy that entire freakin' set just for one part... Also, is that really the right part. It looks like only the right colour. Okay, back on topic everybody! True, but that's the whole point of the AT-RT, it's no walk in the park. Revision is crucial to improve the design. I agree: the legs are over-sized. Don't counter the suggestions you receive with the argument that perfection is impossible. Think about Rook, is MOCs are outstanding, and while he never will admit perfection, he tries his hardest to obtain it.

Here's an AT-RT by Brickdoctor. It took him 5 versions to make this:

Okay, I will make another update. A least try to revision the front cockpit and the legs. They are indeed too big. Maybe in a couple of weeks I'll have another update on it.

I don't know where exactly you live, but there are Lego shops in Cologne (Keulen) and Oberhausen in Germany. Their PaBs are not really that great though.
