Octuparra Droid MK l

Post by Alpha on Fri Jul 11, 2008 6:00 am

Octuparra Droids, useful for destroying entire battalions of clones. Razz
Is about 16 studs tall, but the things attaching the legs and body are, um, stable. C&C welcome!

I think it needs to be a little bulkier, yours looks kind of tiny.
But it's a good start.

The basic shape is OK, but it needs a bit work. Again, I use my hasbro fig as reference:

The only black part is under the 'ball'. You also use black at the legs, but they don't have ANY. I suggest using the Tri Fighter ball as a head. They also have 2 eyes at eacht gun. And, the legs go down-up-down-foot. You miss the first 'down'.

I like it! My only criticism is that the head needs to be just a little more rounded.

I think that the rest of it is good though, you just need to work on the head. Smile

Nice attempt on it. You pretty much got the angles of the legs and guns down. The piece I would use for the top ball part though would be the windsheilds from the droid tri-fighter.

Technically speaking, what you're describing is not what the inspiration for the MOC was.
You're describing the the big brother of the Octuptarra Combat Tri-Droid which would be the Tri-Droid. Wink

See:
A Tri-Droid with Clone Trooper to scale.

And the smaller Octuptarra Combat Tri-Droids seen here during the battle of Coruscant.

That being said; Alpha, I think you have the general shape of the droid pretty much down, but it still needs a lot of work.
Here are some things you could improve/work on:
1) Make the head rounder, remember it's a sphere. A good piece to use would be the Tri-Fighter windshield piece as previously suggested.
2) Make the neck/body longer and thinner, look at the reference pic Bly or I provided.
2) Recolor just about all of the parts; though this will probably take you the most time, when finished it will be well worth the extra effort.
Hope that helps! Smile

Missile launchers.

One rocket fired from a single behemoth was powerful enough to annihilate an UT-AT, if aimed correctly.

Don't forget the light blue color from the spider-droid in the set Wookiee-Attack. It's a highly sought-after piece on bricklink.
