Re: CABG Community Event: The Age of Light WIP
Thanks I'll get some pictures up soon and hopefully that will inspire me to move forward. The main issue with the ship is weight. I wanted the tail suspended more in the air but the shear size of it has required me to build a whole sub structure that I don't really like. Looks too much like previous large ships of mine and not enough novelty.
Re: CABG Community Event: The Age of Light WIP
Absolutely serious question: My sig fig is obviously Kir Kanos, and I wouldn't expect you to produce and apply the decals for him from my boy Saber-Scorpion, but if he is portrayed as a bit of the "Byronic hero" (if you know what I'm referring to), then could he be considered as my light side figure? Or should I produce a new figure? You could just use the royal guard without the decals of course, if the light side isn't an issue.
Re: CABG Community Event: The Age of Light WIP
You busted out "Byronic Hero".
The minifigure making stage is over however if you post something and if I have time to make it at the end, I'll use it.

Here's the WIP shots. You'll note the one side has most of haul plating finished while the other is still frame. The framed end was going to be a long suspended tail however the weight of the frame alone was too much and I had to build in supports. Initially they where decorative and now they have to be functional so their original design is flawed for its function.
Here you can see the added support systems for the tail:
Here you can see the segments for transporting the ship: (L to R: Nose, Bay, Bay II, Cond., & Tail)

Re: CABG Community Event: The Age of Light WIP
If you put 'fins' on the top it may make it look a bit different.
Just sayn'.

There's going to be turrets. If you look closely you can see the gear housing. In the end needs to a very aquatic insectoid feel too it.

Ooooo. I'm lovin the SW meets fish vibe from this one. I can't wait til it's finished.

Oh. Don't give up on this. My dad walked in the room , saw this and just said to me, "Holy crap...that's massive."
Re: CABG Community Event: The Age of Light WIP
Holy frak. This is gorgeous Rook. I love the color selection, very futuristic feel I really like the shape you achieved with the nose, and the spines coming off bay 1 are ace. As with any project, nothing comes out as perfect as one had envisioned. You might not be able to take it to cons, but I'd love to see this bad boy finished and presented on the front page of TBB! Kudos Doctor!
Re: CABG Community Event: The Age of Light WIP
Anyone want to answer??

Awesome. I reply helpfully and still I get, "Look at me I’m marching to own drum!”

Update #12
Progress! So I felt very blocked the other day on the rear external supports. On the internal one I was going simply plate it black to reduce visibility of the support beam. However you can see in Update #11 that the external supports do a zigzag-zig (Yeah I made that word up, so what! ) type shape.
So before the weekend I slapped on a shape at the midpoint of the zigzag-zig. After completing that I still had no faith that this would turn out. Then slowly I plated towards the ends of the supports. I've plated the top half and I can already see the end now.
Still have hard work ahead on the tail structure but at least I can see light in the tunnel again.

Re: CABG Community Event: The Age of Light WIP
All depends on how busy/stressful the rest of my life is. The first few months at the new job with the same time my wife was having her second to last surgery, in-laws moving, and prepping for Xmas was pretty close to melt down. So Oct/Nov was nothing. All my Lego sat untouched for weeks then. There were also a few weeks around MOC Madness this last year that I workedon that ship instead of this one. So even though I started mid August I really haven't work on it for probably much more than two months. Based on previous projects this size... I'm cross my fingers and hoping for Easter. If not I'll call it finished on my Birthday no matter how much I've done. That gives me about 2-3 months to wrap this thing up.

Ah, details, details, details. I can’t remind people enough about details. Here’s a peek at detail of the ship.

Update #15
"All is Fair in Love and War."
Repo’ed, harvested, scrapped, call it what you want. Several more sets and MOCs are off to the graveyard as the Rook Reaper slays models for parts for this mega build.
