Which color do you find most incoherent to the look of the scene?
Geonosis WIP *Update
I'm attempting to use dark orange plates in striations, each raised 1 stud offset above its predecessor to create a studdy organic landscape. The topography is bound to change, but right now this is a proof of concept. A spire will be added in the final version as will new winged Geonosions to my rogues gallery.
Enjoy! Comments and criticisms welcome.

I can't wait! I want to see how you pull off those spires.

I'm supper stuck on the "ridge-like" effect of the spire right now guys, any suggestions?
Re: Geonosis WIP *Update
Not a bad start. As for spires, I really like how this one was done, so you could us that as inspiration.
Re: Geonosis WIP *Update
Funny that you bring that up because Brickdoctor actually does photo-editing for me and we've been brainstorming on the subject. The trouble with Lowell spheres is that jumper plates are not available in dark orange...Wickedskillz wrote:Not a bad start. Re: Geonosis WIP *Update
Are you going to make this completely in dark orange?

Well about 90% I'm going to add splash colors of medium dark flesh, dark tan and dark red but just sparingly and for contrast/popDarthPineapple wrote:Are you going to make this completely in dark orange?
I made a LUGBulk order for 1000 2X4 dark orange plates and 200 2X2 plates do that should cover the "rareness" factor for now, though I do have a mind though to order mass quantities of dark orange bricks released in the Town Hall set (not released when I last ordered) next LUGbulk round. 1X2 plates (the part I'll be needing the most) are fairly abundant/cheap.
I don't know the general percentage distribution for the parts yet though (that's a project for this week), so I yet have no earthly idea how far 1200 pieces+ however many 1X2's will take me.
Re: Geonosis WIP *Update
PROGRESS!
Made the elevation less steep, added splash colors and expressed each layer in terms of 2X4, 2X2 and 1X2 plates respectively (the way it'll be built)

Agreed. I like the small spots though.fithboy wrote:Not so sure about the red splashes :\
Re: Geonosis WIP *Update
Thanks for the input guys! I really value constructive criticism, especially for WIP's. I got so similar opinions on my Flickr. I'll post a poll on too which color(s) should stay
Re: Geonosis WIP *Update
I like the colors ,except the dark red, just think their nees to be bigger sploches of them. So maybe like a "Puddle" of reddish brown, then some overlaying in Dark. tan. Stuff like that.
Re: Geonosis WIP *Update
This is the final version of the topography of my Geonosis WIP. Curvature from version 2.0 keeps the thing organic looking yet easy to build, the abundant percentage of the well blending reddish brown of version 4.0 is present and smaller percentages of splash colors of 3.0 is present to perk it up a bit. The color splashes have grown larger thanks to the recommendations of followers. And if you still don’t like the dark red, you can just bite it! I’ve grown rather fond of it. Now to just wait on Billund to deliver 1200 dark orange plates, and for a generous stranger to give me the funds to bricklink the rest.
Re: Geonosis WIP *Update
Yeah, that looks great. Now just add some spires, geoniasian vents, and a dead animal carcass and we're golden!
