Power Functions [Battery Operated]
I just picked up Power Functions #8293.
I needed an extension cord and didn't feel like making an online order just because of a cord.
So figured I could probably get the Power Functions Switch cable to double as an extension cord instead.
Then I'm ripping everything open and I noticed all the bonus bits in the set.
To be specific I noticed the white gear. Has anyone used one of these before? If so how and to what end? Basically what is its function/purpose?

Re: Power Functions [Battery Operated]
I just picked up my first set in seattle and I had no room in my luggage for it plus it looks like a bomb to the naked eye so I had Will ship it to me. I have no clue what its for and I didn't notice it in my set so i will see when I get it back.
Ask Si-Moc, I am sure he would know.

Looks interesting...I am not familiar with much of that, but I am sure you will find a use for it in your MOC's!

Wow, that is very interesting! I've never seen one of those before.
Re: Power Functions [Battery Operated]
Yeah I posted this in the Technics Group on EB and got a good response. It's a gear that will spin out if too much torque is applied. So if the unit seizes up, this gear will spin out rather than burning the motor out or crushing smaller gears into bits, which I've already done before.
Re: Power Functions [Battery Operated]
Well I learned something new today even if I don't have power functions...I can see poor Rook sitting there with a chewed up piece!

That just made my day.
But Rook, I am very interested to know how some of those power functions work. I've messed around with them (not mine) for a bit before but I had absolutely no idea how to get it to work properly or how to incorporate them into a MOC. If you can make something it would be nice to see it you just might convince me into getting a set of my own!
Re: Power Functions [Battery Operated]
I’ve used power functions in several MOCs over the past few years.
Luna Lyon: Lights (Wings were going to be motorized but were too heavy for my current power function pieces.)
Rook’s Rook: Lights, turrets, landing pad
Rook Runner: Lights & turrets
Republic Planetary Marauder: Light Brick
Utapau Motorized Play Set: Lights, turrets, elevator
I also did a RC twin wheeled thing like a, Hailfire Droid, not sure I ever posted it here.
I was working one of Zodiac hunters didn't like and turned it into something else. But the droid was shredding gears.
