Re: Armored Infantry Dropship (AID) Build Off entry
Actually, this is what the two were designed for: To counter part each other! Having recently watched 'Blackhawk Down', this was supposed to be based off of the littlebird, excepting the chainguns on the side, which were influenced by the chainguns on the Blackhawks.Sialboats wrote:While your cropping abilities leave much to be desired, your MOC'ing do! Those side rotary cannons are very nice, so is the troop bay. If the Republic Gunship is comprable to the Blackhawk, this is the MH-6 Little Bird .
The side pannels are attached to the nose by 2x2 flat plates located direcly under the dark red covers in the front. The cheek bubbles are also attached to the main frame of the ship by 1x1 studs on their bottom. The cheeks are what hold the whole cockpit to the ship, as the bottom of the cockpit is a pilot hatch.Darth Bizzle wrote:Ok well I think thats a good idea...after having thought it over. I'm really wondering how the "cheeks" are attched. Can you explain CC? And no I am not trying build this.
Yes, the chainguns were based on Wuzzupbob's design, but obviously since they aren't made to be held by minifigures, several aspects were changed. They are attached by black skeloton arms to a clip in the 'Window'.Alpha wrote:Technically, the design was from Wuzzup a couple of months (6-8) ago, so yeah.
Or atleast CC's using a MODIFIED design.

That is awesome! I like the little guns on the sides! And, it is a great replica of the Republic Attack Gunship! Even though you may have not intened that. I just love that troop bay!! Can it hold men in other places? But the wings are too little. And besides, you might not had a choice to make the wings big. So, great MOC!!

Nice, I like it! The clones with the guns look cool standing in front of the ship.
Re: Armored Infantry Dropship (AID) Build Off entry
Wow! That's pretty good! I like the box art/ photoshopping stuff. I love the cockpit design. It's also cool how you kinda made it look like a mini-gunship. great!

I thought that adding the rocket pods would make it look more republicy, and make it seem like a little gunship baby.
Besides the drop pod, the dropship can hold a pilot in the cockpit, and up to two people in the gunners compartment, where the chainguns are and the windows. However, as the main gunner is seated on a swivel in the middle of that compartment, it is normally crewed only by one gunner.

great job,Looks a bit bigger than a minimodel LAAT/i
great job CC-007! This is pretty awesome! I like how the cockpit window is protected. And that it also looks like a bigger mini model LAAT/i.
Again,great work!

Your style Sial is to get a big box and add wings on it!
Re: Armored Infantry Dropship (AID) Build Off entry
Yes, I perfer to use sleek arrowhead designs and minimal wings, more like land style.

But then it wouldn't be a dropship or a gunship!

Re: Armored Infantry Dropship (AID) Build Off entry
Seriously, they're not that bad!
Dammit, focus on the MOC, not complaining about how blocky it's shaped!
Anyhow, I'm curious as to how you attached the compartment...
I can see a blue technic stud and 2 black studs...

All right, boxes are only good if you attach a really cool cockpit to the front of it.

I think so too; hence the really cool cockpit on the front of this one. Honestly, a box is the most efficient compartment; so when you want a size effiecient compartment, what do you make? A box. So that's what the drop pod on this is.
And the drop pod is attached the same way the Stormtrooper battlepack drop pad was attached to the dropship, I just have a different dropping system, but the hook on is the same.

Re: Armored Infantry Dropship (AID) Build Off entry
Just saw this CC looks great! The photoshopping or gimping is a little suspect though so you might wanna work on that, but cool idea putting it on the face of a box. It reminded me a lot like a LAAT and I think that was one of your basic inspirations, but I like what you did with the detachable drop part of the ship like in the Imperial Dropship. Good ideas with those window gaps to allow troops to get up towards the front of the vehicle and man the guns. I'll be posting my dropship tomorrow!
