Armadillo-Class Vic Viper
Hey boys (and any girls lurking out there- and any Zephs ) long time no see. Got a nice little break from the college life this past week for Thanksgiving, so I hope all you US members had an enjoyable time with the family. Everyone else, I hope you had a nice time as well even though you don't celebrate the best meal-eating holiday. I've grown far too lazy to post all the individual pictures from flickr here, so I'll host a few, and then post a link to the rest.
This NNovvember has been lovely so far- watching all the unique and sharp fighters roll in. It has also been lovely in a sense of the dedication to remembrance to one of our fellow fallen pilots- a true pioneer of our hobby.
This is my simple submission for the month. Being away at college for the past few months has been great, but difficult in separating me from my bricks. Getting them back in my hands and the creative juices flowing for Thanksgiving break was SO nice!
This fighter received significant influence from my architecture professors, (the major I am currently attempting) who have taught me about the interaction between line, shape, space, and geometry. I wanted to go with something unique and abstract. Miss you guys, and miss mah hobby. Cheers

Wow! I love everything about this! Oh, and welcome back for a bit!
EDIT: Sorry about that, but my keyboard was doing crazy things and I had to reboot.
I got to say, I think your architecture class is doing good for you! I love the spherical shape you have, not to mention the rotating cubes.
The colors, as train said, are very good contrast, the light tan with the dark blue. Although for the cubes, if you had not been going for an architectural feel, would have been not very good. But since your are, I think that it stands out in a very nice way.
The only thing I don't like in this, are the tan arches in the back. I realize you went artistic on this, but even that sort of stands out from the rest of it.

I like the color contrast. The texture is very interesting, how'd you make the spherical shape?

All I have to say is that you have some interesting looking space ship designs going here. I am not sure about the stile of the ship, but I am liking the designs. Nice build.
Re: Armadillo-Class Vic Viper
Looks like college hasn't slowed you at all. Nice work once again. I can't say it's a favorite, but you're pushing yourself, which is always great. Side fins need bulk, and the little white bumps, while awesome, are oddly spaced at points. Love it over-all, however!
Re: Armadillo-Class Vic Viper
Wow this is sick! Maybe change the slopes at the back to a dark blue/tan color, but otherwise I really like this!
Re: Armadillo-Class Vic Viper
If you built this over Thanksgiving break, I can't wait to see what you come up with over Winter / Christmas Break.
Re: Armadillo-Class Vic Viper
Great techniques. Not a fan of the tail shoot or the standard TLG style dark blue wings. But everything was delicious... Burp!
Re: Armadillo-Class Vic Viper
Whoa Revo...
That's awesome^99
I love the techniques used!

Although my nomination is worth... nothing, I nominate this for MOC of the month!

Those wings take away from the awesomeness of this a bit, but the round segments are delightful! Really great stuff.

I think that's his 5th time. Anyone here want to challenge that?

Re: Armadillo-Class Vic Viper
That is quite an interesting design with the circular tiles. How did you make them into a ball shape like that?
Re: Armadillo-Class Vic Viper
Thanks for the comments guys. It is stereotypical for us to 'hate on' using the standard plates as wings in detailed mocs, and for the most part I hold this to be good stereotype to bandwagon on. However, I wanted to go against the stream (as evident with some techniques) with this fighter, as well as go against that stereotype. I feel that winged pieces can be incorporated into creations if done in the right manner, and went ahead to execute doing so.
Also a lot of you were commenting on the sphere designs on either side of the cockpit. I was excited when I stumbled upon the pattern and tweaked around with it. It's a fairly simple design involving modified 1x1 tiles with 'handles' at the top, connecting to 1x1 verticle clip pieces, and finally connecting to the circles. The fighter was deconstructed the same day as it was posted, but I'll post up some how-to pics over Christmas break.

I see what you did there now. That's pretty damn clever. Great build.

This has a really cool design! So, you were inspired by architecture? I think that this has a stylish/original design, and you have portrayed it really well! I enjoy looking at this somewhat weird vehicle, and think that all of us should try something like this to explore new ideas.
