Fith's Galactic Conquest Entries
For the past few weeks I've been taking part in this Contest on Flickr. I feel I've done enough small builds to justify a post here now.
Mission 1: Geonosis:
Mission 2: Rhen Var:
Mission 3: Mustafar:
Mission 4: Coruscant:
(Alternate entry)

You have pretty good editing skills for the effects; I like how you added in the backgrounds 'behind' your models, particularly the order 66 model.
The geonosis model has an odd 'step' to it; I'm sure it was intentional, but the difference from the dark sand with the one brick height to a new sand layer is pretty distracting.

The lighter tan was meant to be the built up sides to the arena while the darker tan is meant to be the arena floor itself, could have benefited from tiles

Here's my entry for this weeks round, Naboo!
Here's how I did the lighting

Re: Fith's Galactic Conquest Entries
I personally, have always loved "cutout builds". The ones like the Naboo, where you see layers of the planet/MOC. This one in particular has nice tiles for the underground part and really does look nice.
I have personally, grown a dislike for edited backgrounds, it takes skill to do them, but I find they are a bit... distracting... Maybe try editing a plain white background? Or any solid color?

Re: Fith's Galactic Conquest Entries
I think the opposite. I like colour and I feel it gives the MOC more life. I always unfocus my backgrounds so they don't distract from the MOC too much
Re: Fith's Galactic Conquest Entries
Yeah, I can understand the life to the MOC (I've personally taken some pictures outside w/o a background for that, but not everyone has that privilege).
At the very least consider taking the picture on a background that has a similar color to what you are putting in it's place, that way, if you do miss a spot, it won't be noticeable... That's what I would say is a bare minimum... Otherwise, the missed spots become distracting. (I'm just voicing my opinion, everyone else may think I'm wrong. )
