I thought this might help anyone who needs help findings programs for stopmotion.

I give credit to the guy who posted the websites.

This is to be comprised of free software, and will hopefully become the standard place to direct new guys looking for software. Suggestions are welcome!

Linux (All this should be available from your prefered repos):

Video
StopMotion - Pretty powerful frame capture program, supports a wide variety of frame rates, and onion skinning. Much more too.
Kino - Linux equivalent to iMovie and WMM2. Good beginners software
Cinelerra - A very powerful video editor and compositor. As a professional broadcast standard video editor it recquires significant computing power. Can support video of any size or quality with 64bits of precision.
CinePaint - Film frame editor based on GIMP.
jahshaka - Video and SFX editor
Frameworks - frame capture program
Gimp Animation Plugin - apply all Gimp filters to sequences of images
DBP (Dave's Batch Processor) - another Gimp plugin that allows easy modification of sequences, cannot do Filters but much easier to use
Mencoder, Ffmpeg - video conversion and compression
PiTiVi - Basic video editor
Open Movie Editor - Basic video editor
ZS4 - Video Editor
LiVES - Video Editing System
Lumiera - A rewrite of Cinelerra
KDenLive - Multitrack video editor
Glue Face - Facial Animation

Ardour - Professional quality DAW
Rosegarden - Powerful score, midi and audio editor
Rezound - sample editor
ZynAddSubFX - softsynth, very versatile synth to create noises)
Jamin - audio mastering Application featuring three-band compression and EQ
JACK (Jack Audio Connection Kit) and QJackControl - audio server and control interface. Programs like Ardour rely on this.

Open Office - High quality office suite
Celtx - Script writing software
VLC - Media Player. Plays just about everything. I haven't yet found anything it doesnt.

Cross Platform DVD Authoring
DVD Style - DVD creation software. Allows interactive menus and other goodies. Available for Windows and Linux (Debian+Ubuntu binaries, others must compile the source)

Did you find this all yourself? Or just Copy & Paste?

It's definately copy and paste. This might be good, if this site was more directed to stop motion. We only have a few who claim to be film makers, so I find it unneccessary.

Yes, but this helps the people who do stopmotion. Not everyone does decals but we still have a post to it.

I have one question: SR3DBuilder is it like LDD? Or is it for making modes for CGI.

Yup, no problem. Maybe this could be stickied *wink wink*, nah just kidding. But yeah, I found some useful stuff there as well.

Special effects? Effectslab, Particle Illusion, Abobe after effects, Visionlab. Graphics are for pics, special effects programs are for the stop motion vids.
