A-100 Mk II Bloodhound Heavy Fighter (Rebuild)
A-100 Mk II Bloodhound Heavy Fighter
Description:
When the LAAT/i proved to be devastating on the battlefield, Rothana Heavy Engineering wanted to create a fighter model that could mirror the firepower of the LAAT/i without the drawback of being a troop transport. Such a model would be faster, more agile, and capable of delivering precise and destructive munitions, but also possess the strength and durability of the LAAT series. The result would be the A-100 Bloodhound Heavy Fighter, possessing two wingtip-mounted proton torpedo launchers, two beam laser cannons, two chin-mounded light repeaters, heavy deflector shields and a top sublight speed of 76 MGLT/hour.
The Grand Army of the Republic would initially welcome the new fighter, and they were satisfied with what the Bloodhound could do. Within the first few weeks, however, the A-100 was shown to be easily intercepted by enemy Vulture Droids and often required support by V-19s to remain alive. Furthermore the speed of the fighter made it insufficient for assisting ground-based infantry; clone troopers would regularly request air support and felt that the A-100 could not provide the close fire support that a hovering LAAT/i could deliver. Soon, the A-100 took the role of a bomber, which conflicted with the use of the Republic's Y-Wings and other dedicated bombers, and since the A-100 was designed for delivering precision weaponry instead of large payloads of highy destructive munitions, the fighter became redundant and the line was discontinued.
The 762nd Legion would soon after become in possession of what remained of the A-100 fleet. Due to the nature of the legion's members, they are given last preference in receiving new equipment and vehicles, and they took possession of the recalled A-100 fleet when they desperately required additionally fighters for their dwindling 506th Attack Wing. Upon receiving and test-flying the starfighters, the 762nd's pilots were astounded by what they were capable of doing, and the Bloodhound has become a mainstay of the 762nd Legion.
Statistics:
Length: 13 metres ---- Height: 5 metres ---- Wingspan: 13 metres
Max Speed: 900 km/h (atm) ; 76 MGLT/h (vac) ---- Max Accelaration: 2 300 G
Armarment:
(x2) MG1/T-7 Hexatube Proton Torpedo Launcher (36 torpedoes)
(x2) MLC-32 Composite Beam Cannon
(x2) SLR-R3 Light Repeating Blaster Cannon
Crew: 1 pilot
About the MOC:
This is basically the bomber for my legion, accompanying the V-19 and LAAT fleet the legion also has.
You've no doubt noticed that it's been rebuilt from the body of the TLC's LAAT (2002 version, not the latest one). Almost all of the parts I used are at least 5 years old (and I used old greys for this) and the only new parts are some of the dark red pieces I used. In fact, some of those white pieces are about 25-30 years old...
I use Flickr now, so go there to see other shots of the fighter, or the Mk I.
C&C is always appreciated...

Umm... Wow!
I knew you were a good builder as well, but I never knew you were this good!
It's nice and sleek with just the right amout of detail, good job!

Re: A-100 Mk II Bloodhound Heavy Fighter (Rebuild)
That is simply a brilliant technique for the proton torpedo pod, the circular technic elements. The craft itself is reasonably well built, a bit too much of old/new gray/bley mixing, but that's excusable when you look at the overall solidness of the design. You have an excellent shape and some unique weapons, but I do not like a lot of the coloration on her - especially in the wings. In maybe two base colors, with some minor dark red accenting, and smooth, flowing scheme (the antithesis of this being the alternating gray/white slopes on the wings) this would be a beast!
Good work, but there's room for improvement .

This is very well done MZ, the design is great, and you really got a lot of details correct. Though maybe it is a bit too tiled.
Re: A-100 Mk II Bloodhound Heavy Fighter (Rebuild)
Wow, this is really good! You should try changing the coloration a bit though. You wouldn't mind if I tried to replicate it would you?

This looks great MikeZulu, that's a good idea on the proton torpedo tubes on the wings, I also like how it sorta has the look of a LAAT/i.

Re: A-100 Mk II Bloodhound Heavy Fighter (Rebuild)
It look amazing! I like the shape, the proton torps on the wings.
The five year old bricks make it look like its been though quite a few battles, with out blowing up!
'You mind if I use this?
Re: A-100 Mk II Bloodhound Heavy Fighter (Rebuild)
The grey and white pattern is an eyesore on the wings. Other than that it's pretty good.

Re: A-100 Mk II Bloodhound Heavy Fighter (Rebuild)
I like the concept, but I would really like to see some more greebles, and I'm not a fan of the front rotary blasters. I would prefer also to see scratch built blasters under the wings, than that molded cannon piece. A bit more color coordination wouldn't hurt either. Those are my nitpicks, everything else, is nice.
Re: A-100 Mk II Bloodhound Heavy Fighter (Rebuild)
I don't really have anything to nitpick about. I think it's an all around great job!
Re: A-100 Mk II Bloodhound Heavy Fighter (Rebuild)
Its nice but I think it could use other missile or two on the wings.

Not one of your better MOCs, but I'm still digging it. It is a tad simple, but it has a nice shape!
Re: A-100 Mk II Bloodhound Heavy Fighter (Rebuild)
I very much like the idea behind this one, and the MOC itself is good as well, nice work.

I like your newest version a whole lot better!
Very sleek, somewhat it reminds me of a bomber.

I think the second version looks better, and it does look like a bomber to me.
