Defend the Fortress!
Something I've been working on here and there for almost a week. This only my second castle MOC, and I think it turned out quite well. Pretty self-explanatory, Knights vs. Orcs. Enjoy!
Some techniques were based/used from various Castle builders such as DNL.

C&C welcome, as always!

Epic win!
Love the overall MOC, great arch way, and nice ladder attack!

Re: Defend the Fortress!
It is a decent MOC. This fortress could make a good Castle set. The figures in the middle look a bit jumbled though. As if it is chaotic, unless thats what you wanted.

Well, it is a battle.

Re: Defend the Fortress!
Wow, excellent work, definitely some of your best! Love the ladder and the gate and the detail.
Re: Defend the Fortress!
Good work here IHN. I really like how you did the main gate and the arch around it. I think the ladder might look a little better with some plates on it instead of having the studs exposed though.

I get your point, but if you were in a battle would you jumble into one big chaotic group thats uncoordinated.

Thanks, Revo! I'll try that the next time I use that technique.

Have you ever been in a battle? Battles tend to be uncoordinated, once the two sides clash. For example, you may show a perfect line of men and a perfect line of orcs, but once they clash, it all depends on who kills the most of his opponents. For example, a man might kill three orcs and thus stand six studs ahead of where he started, and an orc may kill four men and be standing eight studs ahead of where he started, then another man might kill two orcs then die, and his body would be four studs ahead of where he started, maybe five studs if he rolled over. That is the un-coordination of ground battle; this however is a battle in a keep! There's not a lot of space to move around; perhaps you've seen the Return of the King (a movie, by the way). Remember Minas Tirith and the siege towers? Orcs poured out of those things, and the men just had to stand their ground, what little of the wall counted as "their ground". So in this case I see a bit of formation: spearmen standing at the front to pick off the first few orcs over the top, and swordsmen behind the spearmen to back them up if any orcs get through.
On to the MOC! I love the gate detail; the first thing I noticed was how you used a pipe to attach 1x1 rounds in an arch. The rest is good as castles go, in my opinion.

Darn! I tried that technique a long time ago and thought it wasn't that good. Now I know to use it! Oh and the this is pretty sweet! Love the gate and the towers, not so sure about the top of the gate though...
Re: Defend the Fortress!
@80-0: tl:dr Thanks for posting that so I don't have to.
@Zeph: I literally " ". Thank you so much!
@Troopa and Xion: Thanks for the compliments! The ladder was inspired by DNL. And Xion, I understand what you mean about the top of the gate. Too many spikes, IMO.

Unless, of course, if the defending faction are in a formation similar to those used by the Romans, Spartans, and oddly enough, the Chinese, with shields in front, and the soldiers simply stabbing at those who try to breach the wall of shields. At least until they break formation to initiate a bad Arse battle scene. No one likes to watch a boring scene when one group's dominating so strategically and easily.
