Higgins Boat (D Day)
On D Day, the allied forces used the Higgins Boat to get the soldiers to the beaches of Normandy. Many soldiers never made it.
My 7 year old brother helped out. And please excuse those figures.

No. Please, no. Don't try to invent your own WWII stuff. The higgins boat is way too high and wide, and it didn't carry a Willys plus soldiers. I'm assuming it is a willys? Because it hardly looks like one.
You're a great builder when you make something you made up, but - I'm sorry to say this - you make horrible models where accuracy counts.
Size wise, this looks more like a LCV instead of a LCVP.

See? This is why I hate WWII. You can make awesome creations, but if it's half a stud too wide people don't want to know.

This is not about half a stud, go compare pictures with this and you see what I mean.

We're just perfectionists. If you're going to build WWII, do it right Yes, I think these creations are lovely, yes I think they use great techniques, and yes, it's very nicely built.
But is it WWII? No. It's just the way it is. Sorry Lazer. I remember when I started, I generally built from memory or other models I'd seen and modified little things that would've been nice or could've worked...but looked nothing like the real thing, i.e. my first Sherman Tank. Gotta keep on working on it until you get it exactly right. And I still don't have my Sherman Tank right, even though I'm on Model number 14 or so. Practice makes almost perfect, I suppose.

Yup, as I said, you are a GREAT (really) imagination builder, but not a good accuracy builder.

DP, there's no reason to call him horrible. This isn't a TERRIBLE model, but it could use a great deal of work. Keep trying Lazer.
Re: Higgins Boat (D Day)
Despite it's apparent inaccuracy, it looks amazing. Just rework it a bit, and it could pass as a Near-Future Conflict vehicle.

Re: Higgins Boat (D Day)
A boat that carries a jeep and some dudes is better than a boat that just carries some dudes. I don't care about historical accuracy in LEGO models and I never will. As long as you don't have Winston Churchill battling Kaiser Wilhelm II atop a dragon encircling Stalin's antarctic fortress... you know what, forget what I was about to say, that would rock. And it would rock so much harder than Grey Vehicle #1138 (which is indistinguishable from Grey Vehicle #1 thru #10,000 because they're all accurate scale models).DarthPineapple wrote:You didn't make it akkerit so it sux.
Build whatever the hell you like, Lazer. The Higgins Boat, build-wise, is pretty good. True, it's not masterpiece - it's all a bit square and the interior is pretty rough - but it's nowhere near "horrible", as our resident anal fruit would have you believe. Just keep building the way you want to build, and maybe throw in Space General Patton for extra flavour.
Just imagine.

These are AMAZING builds, Lazer; even though their not accurate. I <3 that "army car!" Great job my friend!
Re: Higgins Boat (D Day)
Lazer, you can build everything. Nobody ever picked up a few bricks and made a perfect, completely accurate model on their first try in a couple of days. DP and PhiMa have been working at their stuff for a while, and I'm sure if you keep up with this you'll eventually get accuracy down. Google reference pics of whatever you're building, use a ruler and protractor, and figure out your scale. You can do this Lazer, Keep up the good work.

Re: Higgins Boat (D Day)
Thanks guys. I think they where just jealous for some reason. Yes I know how inaccurate this is. I did my best and I was lacking some "special" pieces. And PhiMa and DP, I have only beee building WWII for 1 and a 1/2 weeks, so what do expect.
LazerBlade from now on will stick to SW/Space. Consider yourself lucky if you see a WWII creation from me.

Re: Higgins Boat (D Day)
Nice flag, but I don't really like them. The jeep isn't accurate at all, and the Higgins is too high, and it should have bulges on the sides.

AWESOME
That is an awesome looking MOC. I wish that I could come up with a design like that.

Thanks Troopa. Your the best. You know how to be nice even though everyone else is not.

*Cough*
I beg to differ Lazer. ;P
Re: Higgins Boat (D Day)
Honestly Lazer, this is a great MOC! The folding door is awesome, so are the guns and car.
Re: Higgins Boat (D Day)
Hey, I was being nice! I never doubted your skill or the awesome model, I love the way it's built and the techniques it incorporates, especially on the jeep...
