Its sharpie but it turned out more transpearent(sp?) than I wanted even with five coats .

That's why you should try paint, I've used sharpies in the past and they always come out fairly messy and they leave various sharpie lines. Paint leaves nice thick coats that don't look like the clone took a magic marker to his armor .
He looks cool though, I like the backpack.

A bit messy, but not too shabby. Try acrlic paint instead of sharpies or markers next time.
