Famous last Stand: Wrecked V-Wing
OK, here's the first of 2 MOCs I'll be rolling out that I actually made a while ago. This one features Commander Dortace (almost redshirt ) emergine from the wreckage of his V-Wing, to be confronted by the enemy.
Cannon| Smoking engine | Taking cover | Overview | Enemies incoming | Wreckage | 3/4 shot
Enjoy, my next MOC will be up in a few days!

Re: Famous last Stand: Wrecked V-Wing
I love the flames and the smoke, but there just isn't enough of the V-Wing present to make it look like a V-Wing.
Or maybe you already demolished yours and that's all you had left?
All I can say is maybe make it bigger and add more V-Wing to the V-Wing.

Yeah it really looks like a cockpit of some sort or the front of a starship though.
Re: Famous last Stand: Wrecked V-Wing
Yea, the V-wing is too small. I like what you've got though.

Wasn't Dortace shot down above the planet? Seeing as we're not looking at a clone/starfighter puree, I'll assume that he abandoned ship and ejected, too. In that case, there's too much V-Wing, as it would have broken up and scattered in mid-air, landing some way from Dortace. Maybe that's a fragment of a V-Wing that landed and got blown to little bits near this scene. Nice MOC, though, and I like the smashed bit of cockpit canopy. The droid on the left looks a little 'laid-back', however.

Re: Famous last Stand: Wrecked V-Wing
Thanks people, but come on, where's your suspension of disbelief?!?!
Dortace did indeed get shot down other Mygeeto, his engines got hit and fizzled out. For this reason, he was able to control his descnet, but his landin left something to be desired and his ship got understandably damged.
This is mostly comprised of ARC-170 parts, and as a result I had limited space on an improvised baseplate. Regardless, it's built mostly to kill of a potential problem, IE five commanders which I don't have the figs for in a group shot
So please, forget the backstory, and concentrate on what's actually there, hey?

Well, if you recall from Lego's model, I'd suggest adding a few light grey plates and thinify it a bit, but keep some of the thicker structural bricks underneath to retain the 'hide-behindable' wreckage look.

I think the wreckage is great, contrary from popular opinion. If an object impacts the ground at hundreds of Kilometers an hour, why would it 'look' like it was before? great work with the crash. I like this whole thing; and great work with the fire and smoke too. Also it's nice to see a megaphone blaster in an MOC nowadays.

Actually, it does depends on how fast it was going. If he lost control of the engines he'd still be able to steer and brake. However, if he lost all manual control he'd still be able to hand it over to his Astromech. If he lost his droid, engines, and manual control, only THEN would he be screwed!
Plus, if there's that little of the ship left and nothing of the cockpit left, where's he(the pilot) during the crash?(I'm gonna read the story in two shakes; I forgot if he mentioned him ejecting )
Ooh, yeah! The olden days of

Actually, if it was only his engines that cut out, he'd just keep going in a straight line in space. After all - it's space...

Re: Famous last Stand: Wrecked V-Wing
I think that the scene is too vague and small. You're definitely a better moc'er than this Jake. There would be more burned-out ground/vehicle parts, and I think the wreckage needs more greebling design. The smoke and fire strands don't look that good (IMO) so I would just cut them. I like seeing crashed/wrecked mocs though, so it's still pretty good.
Re: Famous last Stand: Wrecked V-Wing
I like it. The fire is positioned very nicely, but the smoke only very vaguely resembles smoke.
