Would a sticker printing shop be a good idea?
Sticker Printing Store
Well, I've been thinking over what darth pineapple told me about his working with stickers, and I've been considering it a bit, and, after calculating the possible outcome (which is some income $$$) I've decided that I might try to open a bricklink store for stickers.
Stickers, you say? Yes. Stickers. They would be reasonably priced, and cheaper than decals. Also, there would be no rubbing off the print from a figure you want to apply to. All you have to do is peel the sticker from the sheet and stick it on. You won't have to worry what was on before. If you get tired of the sticker: Just peel it off. Simple as that. Your figure won't be damaged or altered in any way; like a decal would.
I would just probably do leg, body, and back designs however. Helmet stickers look a bit iffy. Another thing: I have no experience with drawing designs at all. If you guys can draw clone designs (I might be able to get you a template) and if you'd be willing to draw up several, and even make customs, I'd be willing to give you a % of the income. So if you know anyone who would like to draw for me, please shoot me a PM.
Please vote in the poll and voice your opinions in this thread!

I've been experimenting with some stuff. If you send me a regular white clone torso, I could probably add color to it and send back the design.
Ok, I've got a decal made from Fine Clonier for a sample. Check my brickshelf under decals for it.

P.S. It might not be public yet. Just give it some time.

GREAT IDEA! It would be AWESOME if the sticker was durable also, and could be played with, without damage like LEGO's are! Also cheap details for clones like legs, and arms would be great for upgrading battle pack troopers!

I would probably still use decals in some instances as they can look better, and ARE better for really small areas like helmets.

Re: Sticker Printing Store
Well, it may seem as if I'm trying to stop you from all this, but I am not. I just want you to know the commitment that is needed to run something, and all that jazz. I have had experience in it a bit, though I'd never sell my own decals. Plus, a lot of my friends have businesses. I'm going to be giving you some information that will...help you.
You said less money than decals. I don't think you realize that the people who sell them aren't making a profit pretty much at all. Both Vid and Kam have ALPS printers. They are very expensive. The cost of the ink for the printer is more (metallic and white), the cost of the paper, the time put into it whether designing and printing, plus the quality of the ALPS printings is better. You seem to thinking that you're going to be making a profit, but to do that you would have to pretty much sell them for more than Vid does. He charges about 50 cents a torso. So you wouldn't be selling them for less. I also find the selling other people's decals a bit...well..sorry can't think of the word. But even if they agree to it, still seems odd.
But I'm not exactly sure what kind of sticker paper you use, and how much it costs. That is just something that is true most of the time, but if you find a way that it is contradictory..then shoot.
Running a shop is a lot of work. If you get orders, at least.. You have to be very committed. Very.
Thanks,
Zach
Odd how I'm the only one who prefers decals. I bet most of you haven't used them...so this poll is flawed.

Re: Sticker Printing Store
Thats a really awesome idea! But you should probobly make the stickers a little thinner than ur average stickers(I want the stickers that i put on my minifigs to not look like they actually have stickers on them)Buts its still an awesome idea and you should make stickers for every clone trooper thats possible, including their helmets.

I can do designs for you, but Baby Jawa is right in all of his advice. Selling stickers will not give you much of a profit, it will take alot of time and not everyone will be comfortable buying from first time sellers. Also, the poll is flawed

Stickers
If you make these stickers like Lego does, they will stick for a long time, the stickers from a Lego set I got like 7 years ago still can be removed and reapplied, so I think this is a really good idea, I got some advanced photoshop and flash tools so I could help you out of necessary.

Re: Sticker Printing Store
The stickers on my RGS are cracking and falling off. Any ideas on how to save them or print new ones.
Re: Sticker Printing Store
Rook, you could try glue if you have no other alternative, or buy a new sheet off bricklink.
