ALL AGES UP - Piracy Throughout the Ages
Story: Follow Cpt. Kirk and his First Mate Mr. Jonnyson through the different ages of piracy. On thier well-built, ill-fitted boat the Merry-Go these adventures don't let the day or age stop them from out doing Admiral Paddock and his Assistant Pvt. Morris.
Each Day this week I'll release a picture of a different age of piracy.
(Five Days)
First Age: Classical
(This was to show off that build technique....)
Enjoy!

Correct. Tiles are not SNOT, they are studless.
But great work Zeph! I suspect an internet hacker vig within 5 days...

Re: ALL AGES UP - Piracy Throughout the Ages
Not quite. They kinda stay classic Pirates throughout it all, like classic one, but in different ages. You'll see what the idea is soon enough. Next is Steam-Punk, it's the one I'm proudest of so far (I've built three, working on four...)
Re: ALL AGES UP - Piracy Throughout the Ages
This looks great Zeph! The techniques are nice and the studlessness are awesome!!
Can't wait for the other days!!

Steampunk piracy sounds cool, though. I got 8th place in the Reasonably Clever steampunk competition, so expect some detailed criticism.

Name was chosen on porpose, and I'd love feedback!
Re: ALL AGES UP - Piracy Throughout the Ages
Yeah some steampunk piracy would be awesome. Check out the movie Serenity or the TV show Firefly. The pirates could be like the Reavers.
Re: ALL AGES UP - Piracy Throughout the Ages
That is AWESOME! I love the flying boat, like in treasure planet! But if the second age is steampunk, then the fifth must be Star wars piracy, right?
Re: ALL AGES UP - Piracy Throughout the Ages
Wow! I really like it. The first one is nice, and the studlessness is good. I also agree that the second one is better though. If the white was supposed to be a cloud, it's pretty good, but could of used a couple more slants. Other than that, it's a great build and I especially like the new ship, and their propellers. I can't wait to see the next one!

@pdragon27 ('cause the 27 is important ): Steampunk is basically 'what would happen if electricity hadn't been harnessed, and eveything was steam-powered', with a bit of fantasy and shedloads of wackiness thrown in.
@Zeph: I like the idea of two boats attached in that way, but the upside-down studs on the roof look a bit 'meh'. Fortunately, greebles are welcome just about anywhere in Steampunk, so you could easily improve it by covering it with a few small, technical-looking pieces. The propeller on the back looks great, although it would be a whole lot better if we could see it hooked up to a boiler somewhere - that's the point of Steampunk, after all. How you've attached the treasure chest is nice, and a good example of that Steampunk wackiness I was talking about. However, the rest of the MOC is a little bland, as it's basically the previous one with bits stuck on. I'm not a fan of the giant brown dish roof - some Victorian architecture would have been nice instead, or maybe a lightning rod assembly for the mad scientist's lab (because there's always a mad scientist in Steampunk). Also, what exactly are those white slopes in the bottom right of the first picture? They look a bit like clouds, but that's not very clear. Lastly, the crane/winch looks like it was thought of and made in under ten seconds. The troll in a barrel is nice, but the winch arm could have been handled better.
Still, you probably won't bother improving on this, so I don't know what point there is to me giving you feedback...

Yup, the 27 is important for those of you who don't know, ok so like Steampunk is like a world without electricity? No videogames or TV? Agghh! I'd die in that world, but then again you'd have cool flying boat...
Re: ALL AGES UP - Piracy Throughout the Ages
Sure, you'd have TV and videogames... but they'd be steam-powered! Somehow. That's where the fantasy element comes in, I suppose.

WOW Zeph, I always love your work, but I must say, that first one LOTS-OF-PLATES. You must have TONS of those!

Thanks a lot for the feedback. The idea that it looks like the last on is the point, and I personally like the dish top. The crane, believe it or not, cost me lots of time, I simply didn't have any open pieces for that. And yes, it's already destroyed, though I'm considering going back to Steam-Punk Piracy once I'm done, I liked it a lot. Your advise will be useful then!
As for the without of Steam -Power, this is more mechanical. Plus the ships small
As for your last question, those are clouds. This has the same EXACT set up as the last one, the dock is the same size, as is the land scape (beach last one and clouds this one). The land is shaped the same, and the building is the same size. That's the idea. It's the same scene, but aged.
Thanks everyone!
Re: ALL AGES UP - Piracy Throughout the Ages
Looks great! Though the samurai helmet looks kinda out of place...
The dock looks cool! Good job!

Re: ALL AGES UP - Piracy Throughout the Ages
I agree it looks out of place, but I wanted to keep it for retro future!
Re: ALL AGES UP - Piracy Throughout the Ages
That is really cool! But It doesn't look modern enough for me. I was going to say "But some BrickArms", but then I realised that you are a purist...

Re: ALL AGES UP - Piracy Throughout the Ages
Yeah, I agree, it doesn't look modern, maybe if you made a speedboat...
