Episode III commanders WIP
So before I made Bly, but he sucked right? So I said "Why not recycle him and redo him?" So here you are viewing this topic.
Kama and pauldron by me, Contact me Via PM here or Flickr if your interested in buying one. The final version will feature:
-Waterslide decals
-Arealight Macrbinoculars
-Little armory rifle
-Painted mid around the feet
Probably more too......
Anyways enough yapping, Here are the pics.
And just for you to be happy, here are my 212th attack battalion troopers I made recently.
The one on the left is for sale. (plus my clone wars cody WIP)
Soon I'll start on Deviss and Gree.

Bly didn't have a gray stripe going down the fin area, and use P2 armor.

Re: Episode III commanders WIP
I'd lighten up the brown a bit, (mix the paint with white) but other than that... Good Job!
Re: Episode III commanders WIP
I don't see your point, I know it is, I said it is. Uberlag was the one who said he never wore P2 armor.flare wrote:Od that is ph2 armor.

Re: Episode III commanders WIP
It looks great! What type of paint are you using? I recommend Testers enamel paint.

OMG HE USED PH2 ARMOR IN RoTS! The picture you have is bly in ph 2. not have a ph1 armor and having ph 2 helmet. Some troopers had thatt in the 2d CLone wars seris...But Bly never had that.

Bonehead@ I use acrylic paints, they dry quick have a shiny look, and are easy to seal. Delta brand to be specific.

Re: Episode III commanders WIP
Enamel is shiny-er. And it never has brush strokes, and is usually pretty even.

There are numerous possibilities here, and really, it all comes down to personal preferance.
Basic Choices:-
1) Acrylic Paints:
These are your water based paints (which means you can clean your brushes up in water). These are very handy as they are less fuss and mess than enamel paints. One down side is that it is usually harder to get different types of finishes (matt, semi-gloss, gloss). Small quantity pots are usually a matt or semi-gloss. Acrylics can sometimes look rough if they are applied to thick. For good adhesion to the surface of the plastic an undercoat, or primer is better of being applied first. You don't HAVE to use a primer though.
2) Enamel Paints:
These are the ones that need to be cleaned up in Mineral Turps, or Turpentine. As a finished product, these look great as they are a lot smoother finish that what can be initially created with acrylic paints. These are really easy to get hold of in hobby stores as there are a number of different brands available (Testors, Humbrol, Tamyia, etc) In general you don't need an undercoat or primer for enamel paints.
For a basic touch-up, I would probably suggest enamel paints. Clean-up isn't that much of an issue if you are only doing a small area. If you were going to do an entire figure then I would probably go with acrylics. No matter what paint us use, just bare in mind that it is better to apply more thinner coats than it is to apply 1 heavy coat.
You don't have to use enamel paints, you can use acrylics as well.
I would suggest you mask off the area(s) that you don't want to paint 1st. Then using a fine brush carefully apply the paint to the unmasked areas. Don't put loads of paint onto your brush as it will seep out all over the place (and possibly under your masking). Just remember to take your time and apply lots of thinner coats, rather than 1 heavy coat.

That should help you decide OD!

Of... Star Wars. Y'know, the weird sci-fi franchise based on that movie from the 70s. It's fairly obscure, you might not have heard of it.Uberlag wrote:And episode three of what?

So, last night I started on Gree, today I started on Deviss. Enjoy.
Keep in mind the torsos are just place holders and will be replaced with waterslide decals. Note: Deviss's helmet hasn't been sealed yet.

Re: Episode III commanders WIP
So it seems you are working on a project to make all the commanders!
After you finish this project, will you start working on your legion?
Nice Gree and Deviss!

Hey nice work. I like how you have him holding the hologram transmitter.
Ok I have a question. What type of paint is less glossy? Or is that a high-gloss paint? And would matt paint look good on a minifig.
