Well here's how I look at the White hip vs. Black hip controversy.
Black may not look as accurate as in the movies, but it looks much more "LEGO-like".
White ones look really good (with decaling on it that is) as shown by Wbob.
So yes, it all depends on personal preference.

I'm working on one of these at the moment
I used Crystal clear Laquer once and it made all the white yellow, even the decals and they even ran!
The body is well trick, decals perfect!
The helmet however looks blurred and frayed! I look forward to the new and improved version!
