LEGO Brick Removal
Alright, lately I have had trouble removing Lego bricks from one another(Specifically plates). I need your tips on removing them or pulling them apart without using an official Brick seperator.
Thanks,

Re: LEGO Brick Removal
Well, I don't want to use my teeth because I have braces and have already broken like 4 brackets from that. And, I don't want to have to spend $5 on shipping for a $2 item on Lego.com.
Re: LEGO Brick Removal
Needle nose pliers, that's what I use for very rods and stuff. For plates... I use my finger nails. And I have braces, and my brackets don't break when I use my teeth...
Re: LEGO Brick Removal
Hey, if you break a brick - never throw it away. It always could come in handy if you need to make something look like it's damaged, and you don't have as many greeble elements as you'd like for the job .
Re: LEGO Brick Removal
Actually, on my pocket knife there are two tools - the one on the very top and the one on the very bottom, the short ones on the right side , that get into them with ease, you may not have one but it saves me broken fingernails.
Re: LEGO Brick Removal
Just use tweezers. Ya know, those things you use for splinters. And couldn't you have asked this in the new member questions thread? So what if your not a new member.
Re: LEGO Brick Removal
Never use your teeth. Leaves bite marks, and it hurts. Some creator sets do come with brick seperators, so just hope for one when you go shopping next time.

What, karate style? More info please.
Re: LEGO Brick Removal
A common trick I use (but doesn't always work) is to add bricks to the plates that you can't separate - the added bricks act as extra leverage and support for your thumb/fingers, and you should be able to separate them as normal.
If that fails, use your teeth, or get a separator! - whoever suggested pliers, that's a good idea as well.

Obviously you didn't understand the joke.
Next time you go to a Lego store, buy a brick separator then. They have them in a Lego jar up buy the counter.
Re: LEGO Brick Removal
With any tool you'll want to take the time remove the brick gently so you don't damage it. I use my mini Swiss Army Knife sometimes.
Re: LEGO Brick Removal
Unless you want to damage the bricks, get a brick separator. It's worth it, just a few dollars at your Lego shop.

Yep. I totally agree. It's worth it. Not only in $$$ but in time that it saves removing the bricks.DarthPineapple wrote:Unless you want to damage the bricks, get a brick separator. It's worth it, just a few dollars at your Lego shop.
Re: LEGO Brick Removal
Guitar plectrum. Works almost every time and is extremly useful and cheap. I suggest getting a thin and strong one.
Re: LEGO Brick Removal
I have an assorsement of slightly damaged bricks, so they stick harder. When this happens, and I don't want to drown my LEGO in spit, I grab one, stick it on the peice that refuses to come off, then give a sharp yank. Then it's the the process of breaking them apart.

Re: LEGO Brick Removal
Needle nose pliers work, I also use screw drivers (the one that are like -, not + on the tip), and occasionaly a wrench comes in handy. when all else fails, I pry them apart with a steak knife.

Re: LEGO Brick Removal
Whenever I want to get peices off of a plate, I just dropkick the plate.(on the bottom side of course) But the last time I did that, bricks went flying at my mom like a shotgun...
