81mm Brant Mortar

Felt like building something WWII themed so I built the 81mm Brant Mortar:

Err... it's almost exactly like DP's... nothing special, you might as well just use DP's picture instead of yours.

Though that gun isn't bad, I assume you got it from that chap on Flickr who was trading painted guns?

JK, but I'm serious, what's up with that 2x3 slope? I don't remember mortars having huge heavy bases.

Yeah, I was looking at this refference picture and it had a base like this...I then realized I was making this minifig scale, and I am yet to change it.

Wow that base is just way too big. Even mine is too big, it's supposed to be like 1.5 x 1.5 studs.

Anyway very nice painted gun! I think I'll have to paint some of mine too.

DP's is like everyone's but with one brick at the end.

Trust me, so many people have made mortars like this before DP....so you can't really say he's copying DP.

True. I don't take credit for the design as it is so simple to build yourself. I came up with it myself, never used any other mortars as reference.

Alright idea, though I think the best part of this pic is the painted gun.

This is basically a copy of DP's. I understand that DP's design is cool and you wanted to make one for yourself, but since it is so similar to DP's, you might as well not post it.

Like I said before Teeb, I don't take credit for this design at all. It has been made once or twice before me but I built it without even knowing that. The only difference I made is a 2x2 ground plate. But the design is so easy to figure out yourself I can hardly call it my own design.

Eg, this MOC is a copy of DP's design, which wasn't even his design. Heh.

Anyway, it's more of a tablescrap than an actual MOC.

I think I'm more interested in the Thompson than anything! Splendid paint job on that . As for the Mortar, maybe add a stud on the bottom of the launch tube, and you should be able to get rid of that slope and stand it on it's own.
