Hostage situation
It's been too long since I last made a vignette.
Just a quick scene of some swat guys about to free some hostages. I typically don't do buildings and that made this a bit of a challenge, but overall it was a fun build.
This is one of my first (if not the first) uses of the grappling hook, but it's laying around for ten years or so has finally paid off.
I also thought it would be fun to put some of those fake owls on the roof to keep the birds away.
I also have close ups of the guy repelling and the guy with the breach charge.

I really like this little scene you've put together, but mabe you should move the guys gun away from the pidgeon (I don't know if I spelled that right) it looks like he's about to shoot it.

Dude, that's an owl.
Anyways, great build here. The outside of the building has been done nicely, and the corner of the wall there looks awesome. The sidewalk tiles are spectacular and the top of the building looks great. The only thing I don't like is the parrot which looks odd with the owls and the inside of the building could have more tables, chairs, that kind of stuff. Otherwise, great work.
Re: Hostage situation
Pigeon: Sewer rat with wings.
Owl: Raptor or harbinger of death.
Easy mistake.
And the red one is a Scarllet Macaw.

It makes more sense to be a pidgeon.

Re: Hostage situation
In cities they put up fake owls to keep the pigeons away (from pooping all over everything).
Re: Hostage situation
Yes rc-1798, if by pidgeon you mean pigeon.
I love this MOC! Those muppets won't know what hit em'.
What would be really awesome, and is something I always wanted to do, would be take one of Lego's big city sets a la Cafe Corner and make a whole tactical operation.

Great job, I'm guessing the wait to make a vig hasn't really affected your building. The sidewalk is nice as is the building.
I especially like how you made that chair.
But alas, the inside is a bit plain and the Scarllet Macaw looks weird with this.
Still a nice vig though.

I love the chair, I'm glad you didn't go with TLC's chair.

It's nice to see something other than microscale from you again. Simple, clean, and just the right amount of details.
Re: Hostage situation
^Agreed. I kind of like this, but there are a few things that bug me:
Those are what I don't like. Here is what I like..
Thanks, and this is just my opinion.
- The mixture of light grays. It is understandable if you don't have the right pieces, but this ruins the fluidity of the walls.
- The front corner(in the picture). It has those "special molded" 1x2's and I think headlight bricks+tiles would have worked better.
- The sand green on the floor was...interesting. I wouldn't have used that color, but that is my personal opinion.
- I don't like the brown "prison gate" as I call them, on the floor. You should have stuck with black because if you were trying to make a wood fence, a different design would have worked.
- IMO The parrot looks out of place--you should use the blank bley parrot instead.
Those are what I don't like. Here is what I like..
- The addition of the knocked over chair inside.
- The clock on the inside of the building.
- The spiders on the wall/gunshots in wall.
- The not on the wall.
Thanks, and this is just my opinion.

Re: Hostage situation
I've actually never been bothered by the mixing of light bley and gray, so I do have the unfortunate tendency of leaving both colors in my mocs.
I also don't have many fence pieces (normally I never need them) and all my black ones went into the roof. Brown was the next best color I had, and I wasn't in the mood for designing my own railing.
I think I might have seen the chair somewhere on brickshelf, but I can't recall where it was.
The spiders are just supposed to be a picture frame that has been knocked crooked in the drama (though bullet holes would a cool application), and the letter is meant to be a thermostat.
And the parrot, I wanted to add a little irony that a bird was sitting next to the owls, but as you have pointed out it doesn't quite fit.
btw the clock is photoshopped, as I don't really own a clock tile and am too cheap to BL one.
