Felucia: Heart of Darkness
This is my large entry into the Epic Star Wars Scenes contest over at Eurobricks. I've wanted to revisit Felucia for a long time now, as it is arguably my favorite planet in the Star Wars Universe. I think most people fail to capture the sheer size of the plants on that planet. It will be revisited a third time in a much larger scale sometime in the future. The background is atrocious because this is the largest moc I've built and it surpassed my current backdrop technology, and for that I apologize.
Commander Bly and other members of the 327th Star Corps troop through the hell-hole fungal world of Felucia with Jedi General Aayla Secura. As they approach an opening they receive a comlink from the Chancellor- the pre-programed Order 66, which is to eliminate all Jedi. The troops open fire on their Jedi general, executing her without mercy. Here is an Order 66 video clip on youtube from Revenge of The Sith which can put you more into the mood. The Felucian scene starts specifically at 1:01: link here.
Gelagrub beetles were used as means for transportation in the harsh terrain. Inspired by Bob.
These transparent mushrooms totally don't belong here, but I loved them too much and couldn't finish the moc without their inclusion.
Thought I'd give my go at photo-shopping a little. Semi-pleased with the result.

Re: Felucia: Heart of Darkness
I commented on flickr, but wow! The use of Xpods is great, and the parts usage all around is fantastic! I see a MOC of the month!

Wow, I really love the colourfulness. I envy all of those pieces. And oh wow, you got yourself a new Aayla Secura.
Awesome job on the floor though, I love all the little flowers on the ground.
Can you show a picture of one of those giant x pod things taken apart please I want to see how/what that orange thing inside is. Great work!

Re: Felucia: Heart of Darkness
You used quite a helluvalot of NPU in this!
Starting with the transparent mushrooms, the Bionicle head for the Slug, the army men helmets as vegetation, and that one useless part that binds together the three-leaved plant. Bravo!

Re: Felucia: Heart of Darkness
Too much greebling.
I'm kidding. This is an amazing work of art you have assembled, LRV. You're correct when you say people don't capture the sheer size of thye plants, let alone the planet and its inhabitants. This is what you'd expect to see in a Felucia MOC, except blown up, greebled, used uniquely. Parts used in un-traditional ways. So, when's the next scheduled frontpage article for TBB?

I'm not sure if this one will make it up there. There are a lot of good entries out this year.
@Troopa- very simple design. X-pod, technic pin, wheel, top, and then the piping is used to keep the pods stacked atop one another and allow them to curve and slant over to the side.
Thanks for the comments guys.
Re: Felucia: Heart of Darkness
Ah, wheel with technic pin through it. I was wondering how you made the curvy movements. I actually thought what you did was cut a giant hole through all the Xpods and stick the giant tube thing from the Mars Mission sets in there. I didn't see the wheel wow I'm such an idiot.
Thanks for showing Revo!

Cutting?! Blasphemy! Egad! I'm a purist, how dare you. Sure thing.
Re: Felucia: Heart of Darkness
Yes, I noticed that too an am amazed at what you have come up with.Sergeant Macaroni wrote:You used quite a helluvalot of NPU in this!

Love all those massive plants, especially the one that include those X-Pods.
P.S. Aliens from Mars have landed on Felucia!
Re: Felucia: Heart of Darkness
I've never like Felucia Mocs and I probably never will, with people mostly focusing on the plants (which looks absolutly fantastic by the way) the layering on the ground is given little attention making it look like a flat plain which always bothers me. For it's class it's the best but you didn't make the best choice of a class in my opinion.

I agree completely. However 1x1 1x2 2x4 etc. dark green plates are very hard to come by. I wanted to make it dip down towards the middle to resemble a wash like I did in my VI a few years ago, but as I hinted it would be too expensive. In an ideal world, I would've loved to have done that.
Re: Felucia: Heart of Darkness
Did you get that Aayla Secura from the new Turbo Tank set? I noticed it 'cause I might be getting one soon.

Re: Felucia: Heart of Darkness
This is great Revo! That beetle is very interesting, as are all of the plants.
Re: Felucia: Heart of Darkness
I like it very much!!
I just think the plants look disgusting. I would not want those growing in my yard.

Re: Felucia: Heart of Darkness
I can see how that would be a issue, I didn't consider the amount and price of green plates especially on a Moc of this size. Thanks for the reply.legorevolution wrote:Darman-C19 wrote:I've never like Felucia Mocs and I probably never will, with people mostly focusing on the plants (which looks absolutly fantastic by the way) the layering on the ground is given little attention making it look like a flat plain which always bothers me. Epic. The only problem is, Aayla has 2 light-sabers. Right?!

Wrong. She only has one. She has two in Star Wars Battlefront 2, but not in the movie. Great MOC Revo. Really liking those big plants and the figures.

I like this, but is that a stalker I spy in one of the pictures hiding behind the plants?

Re: Felucia: Heart of Darkness
@Alpha Beta- Aayla has 2 sabers in Battlefront, and I believe when we see her briefly on Geonosis in Episode II. However in ROTS, she only has one saber, which is held in her right hand before getting gunned down. In that brief scene we may see a glimpse of a second saber on her left belt, but because of awkwardness, I didn't want to tie it.
@Rabid & Tac- yep Felucians. There's actually 2 lurking in the moc.

Wow, amazing use of all those parts Revo!
I think I spy another Felucian in the first picture to the right.
