Scorpion VTOL
If the Samson is the Blackhawk/Huey of Avatar, then the Scorpion is the Apache/Cobra.
I was hoping I would be able to recycle a lot of the design of the samson, but the only thing similar are the propeller frames, and even those had to be modified by removing one section of the clip pieces. Due to its smaller size I wasn't able to get the twin rotors, but these are sturdier than the ones on the Samson.
That little section between the rotors is actually held in by the round light gray pieces. I agonized over how to cover those round clip pieces for days. Many solutions were more complex and fancy, but in this case the simpler solution was better (in that it actually worked without messing anything else up or falling apart ).
Another interesting thing, is I find the landing gear to be problematic area. I always do it last, and end up having to work around a bunch of design restrictions, while trying to get accurate landing skids.

This looks really cool. It's a lot better than DeckDesigns.

Probably not why?Mr. Brickarms wrote:Is that eventually going to be made into minifig acssesible aircraft?
Thanks I'm glad you think so. He's been around a long time, and is one of the better known mini builders.DarthLeumas wrote:This looks really cool. It's a lot better than DeckDesigns

I agree. This is just way more detailed than his.DarthLeumas wrote:This looks really cool. It's a lot better than DeckDesigns.

Wow. I would use some flat pieces though.

If it was minifig accessible, it would be the perfect thing for most any type of minifig MOC!

Re: Scorpion VTOL
If you mean SNOT, it's hard to do that on something that small without increasing the thickness, I would think.Alpha Beta wrote:Wow. I would use some flat pieces though.

I guess I will have to be content with being less than perfect.Mr. Brickarms wrote:If it was minifig accessible, it would be the perfect thing for most any type of minifig MOC!
As for using flat pieces, with this scale there isn't really any way to cover or remove every stud.
