Republic space station
Here is my mini space station for this months GB. My main inspiration was Cloud City, the round shape made it a challenge, so I went for that look. I also wanted to keep it very Republic like, so I went with the white and dark red color for the main colors and some bleys, and trans blue to break it up a bit.
I'm not used to building at miniscale, so C@C is welcome.

I love it. Pretty cool. I am not sure about the amount of dark red used but it sure is an excellent build.
Re: Republic space station
It looks good, but it just doesn't have a space station feel to me. I dunno why, but nice shaping!

Re: Republic space station
At first sight, I thought this was a rebuild of the LEGO Mary-Go-Round. Mostly because of the colors.
So I think I have to agree with eclipse, there's a bit too much dark red.
But other that that, miniature mastery Knight! I love the shape and those cruisers too.

Re: Republic space station
I had a idea to build something like Rooks MOC before he posted it. The I changed my mind to something round. Then you post something like this. No I have another idea. Who is going to steel it now.
Very nice build knight. It seams like it to much together. Add more things sticking out, and cannons.

Re: Republic space station
I take back the "too much red" comment. After reviewing the flickr I noticed that the red on top and on bottom are miniscale ships.

Thanks, and BTW the de-levered levers are cannons. The plates can't support anything bigger.

Thanks, I'll have to build more mini scale soon!

As I said above the de-levered levers are cannons, and anything else would cause issues. Good luck with you entry, and might it be a floating box?

Thanks, I was worried about the color issue, because from the start I knew I wanted dark red ships, and dark red on the station. I didn't know how it would balance out, but I'm glad you think it works!

I was thinking about this and I wondered if it would work if you used a stud and then a neck bracket and then put an optional stud and have a binoculars on top of it I think that would make a pretty good turret.

Great idea, but I tried other options that were similar, and the bottom plates collapsed, due to them being connected upside down.

Amazing job Knight, I love the mini-scale cruisers compared to it.

Re: Republic space station
I'm going to be honest here, and say that this does not look like a space station at all. The big gaps between the white parts on top really take away the flow. Right now it just looks like a big floating ball. I would say add an extension to the bottom that comes down a bit. Overall it looks good, but it is just not a space station.

I have to agree also. I was trying to explain the same thing, but I did not want to say such a thing to my fellow knight. But it just does not quite seam like a space station.

"That's no moon, it's a space station", since the Death Star was the first space station ever in SW, why would a round floating ball not be a space station?

That's why I don't think the Death Star looks like a space station. Just a big floating ball. Now this does look good, Knight, but not like a space station in my opinion. Try making it more like this.Knight wrote:

Re: Republic space station
^That looks like a floating tower, sooo, yeah. I prefer floating dishes and balls as space stations.

Thanks, and I know it's SW, but when I think of a SW space station, I think round, and floating ball.

Re: Republic space station
The shape is really interesting, and I love how a Republic cruiser can dock with it.
Re: Republic space station
Wow, just....wow. This thing is absolutely amazing knight! Did you partially base it on the Kaliida Shoals Med centre? Anyway, this thing is simply breath taking. MOC of the month so far IMO, anyone else agree?

After looking it up, there are a lot of similarities. It wasn't a refrence I used, but it looks as if it could have been.
