Eta-2 Hangar
So I will be creating a hangar to hold some Eta-2s. It will likely be set inside the Jedi Temple or possibly within a Venator, haven't decided yet. Anywho, this past week I finalized my design for the ship so now I'm just waiting for some BL orders to come in. This will probably be my biggest project to date. I'll release pictures as soon as I get my orders to replace filler pieces.
As of now the Eta features:
Snot built
Minifig-scale movie accurate
Foldup landing gear (two under front prongs, one underneath cockpit)
Ejection Seat (seat ejects when landing gear under the cockpit is folded up quickly)
Accurate and fully detailed cockpit
Swooshibility

The Jedi Temple would be more interesting. The Venator hangar is basically a long box room with windows.

Awesome! I always wanted to fly a hangar!MikeZulu wrote:legorevolution wrote:It will likely be set inside the Jedi Temple or possibly within a Venator, haven't decided yet.

Re: Eta-2 Hangar
I love what I hear! The jedi temple sounds nice. But if you could make a movie accurate scale Venator Hangar that would be neat. Personally I think it would be cooler.
On the ship itself. I am loving the sound of SNOT. Can't wait!

Re: Eta-2 Hangar
Except making a Venator AND a hanger is bit of costly PaB bill.
Unless you just use TLG's version of the Venator.

Swooshibility? (The following sentence has no meaning. It just fills the five word limit.)

With the Eta-2's, vehicle builds need to be shooshable!
Re: Eta-2 hangar
Sounds cool, the ejection seat sounds interesting, can't wait to see the finished build. Hope it comes out nice and swooshable. I tried making something swooshable once, it came out so good I swooshed it a bit to much....right off the stairs.

I will not build an entire Venator. Just a part of a hangar. Hmm, I might wanna go with Jedi temple, but then this summer I'm planning on finishing my snot Laat/i, so a Venator hangar would probably suit best for a backdrop.
@Zulu and anyone else who doesn't know swooshibility, it's basically how swooshable a lego craft is when you pick it up in your hand and rotate around to make it look like it's flying. Sound effects are optional but highly encouraged!
@Kilo, I know that feeling. Seems to happen in the worst places. Onetime I did it off a 3rd story balcony....

Now that I would love to see.
Re: Eta-2 Hangar
This is a great idea! The ejection seat sounds really cool. The finished build should be awesome coming from you. What are the colors you are using for the Eta-2s? Good luck!
Re: Eta-2 Hangar
Yep, it sure does, wait, a third story balcony! THAT would be a sight to see.The LAAT/i you're working on sounds cool also, can't wait to see it.

They are going to be orange, white, dark blue, yellow, and dark red as those are the only colors available for the hexagonal flag winged pieces.
Re: Eta-2 Hangar
Oh, this is gonna be an awesome build! You can do both the fighters and the LAAT/i in the Jedi temple. Plo Koon has his 'own' special gunships too, so why not? Those landed in the Jedi temple hanger too. And balconies, lots and lots of balconies. And maybe a couple of rooms next to the hanger.

Cool, I think the orange, dark blue, and white are going to be my favorites. I'm sure they will all turn out great.
Re: Eta-2 Hangar
I have high hopes for this project! Also, it's funny, the past two months I've been working on a SNOT LAAT/i too (just waiting for some new cockpits to come out). I can't wait to see how yours turns out. Good luck!

*Update
Picture added to the first post. I've got all but 4 of my 23 BL orders in to complete this project. Awaiting those few small orders with tiny pieces to come in so I can complete my ships. In the photo you see piles of all the parts for the 6 Etas I'm building. Prolly about 2 weeks time until I post again.

Re: Eta-2 Hangar
Aww not much to see yet. But I was quite surprised to see that you sort out each piece individually I find that it takes too long so I just sort the pieces by colour because I find that its much faster to find the piece that you need for a build.

You sort by piece when money isn't an issue and you can make bricklink orders to colour correct. Rainbow warriors ftw.

Finding a white 1x1 in a box full of 1x1s, easy. Finding a white 1x1 in a box of random white pieces, hard.
Put the effort in sorting and your building will be much easier. That said, I've never sorted.

You only build in greys anyways.

Exactly. I sort by piece type, most builders do. In this project it's especially necessary because a majority of the parts/greebles are dark bley so it would basically be a huge pile of dark bley parts and then a small pile of colored parts. You'll see. Might add another update pic today!
Awesome
I love the look of the orange one in the background. Could you pm me the instructions for it please.
