Bonjour!
Hi everyone!
My name is Simon and I have a *tad* of a LEGO addiction.
While I'm very new around here, I've been around for a little while on Flickr and some other LEGO Sites. I've lurked around CABG before and it always seemed to be a nice place. Recently someone mentioned CABG again and I thought - why not? It's a nice place - so I decided to join up in the fun!
I live in Toronto (GO LEAFS) and in the last year started getting involved in the local community here - though it's pretty small - I'm thinking will grow soon. I've been to exactly ONE LEGO convention - the inaugural Canadian LEGO con in Toronto - but I've pledge to make it to BrickWorld and BrickCon (and maybe BrickFair) next year - and hopefully dragging some Canadians with me.
So hopefully I will get to meet some of you in person! Or better yet, collaborate on something.
I build in practically all themes - though I drift towards Sci-Fi / Space a lot. I don't build many Star Wars mocs - but I do love the sets and have probably more SW figs than I should. Actually, I probably have more figs than I need for most themes - I think I'm over compensating for lack of minifigs as a kid... so now I go a bit overboard... and of course I have to build mocs of all themes to justify the minifigs.
Feel free to check out some of my stuff:

I'm a firm believer in getting criticism and feedback on MOCs- as I see that's a fantastic way to improve on your building - So feel free to offer any suggestions!
Thanks for listening,
Cheers,
Simon/Si-Mocs

Re: Bonjour!
Welcome Si-Mocs!
Looks like you've got an excellent grasp of building and MOC photography! Send in an app pronto because you'll have absolutely no trouble getting in. The CABG has been going through a dry spell lately and we need builders like you.

Welcome to the CABG!
My goodness, you have some very good building skills! I hope to see some great MOCs from you in the future!

Re: Bonjour!
Hello! I've added you as a contact on Flickr and looked at your Photostream. You'll be in the Guild with your first app, mate.

You're a little late. He was granted Guildship without application, see profile.

Likewise. This is way we added this feature to user profiles so you wouldn't insert foot in mouth.
I've meet Si-MOCs a couple times and his skill as a builder is definitely not in question. Thus the instant Guildship. Now regarding his level of addiction to Lego, that is open for discussion!
Re: Bonjour!
I'd respond to each person individually - but there are rules against that here!
So thanks everyone - yes Rook is a tricky one making me a guildie without an application. Though I do plan to follow your advice and submit one anyways. Just to give him more paper work.
And yes I'm always building and always planning - I literally have sketched out my big projects for the next 1-2 years
You'll likely see some Castle stuff soon due to CCC, and some big Sci-fi and SPACE creations leading up to BW12 next year... so stay tuned!
Thanks all for all the kind comments all, and yes I used to list Photography as a hobby - so if anyone has any questions regarding how to shoot or whatnot - feel free to ask!
... Rook hasn't seen the LEGO condo... so he has no idea...

Re: Bonjour!
Well based on how much you had displayed at Brickfête, I figured it was safe that you hadn't actually used every single brick in your possession. And it was most likely an iceberg scenario. I have a tiny room full, whereas you most likely have a tiny room not full, for example maybe the master bathroom.
Re: Bonjour!
Hey man! Nice to have such a good builder joining the site again. I was look through your Flickr and I really liked what I saw. You have some pretty awesome MOCs...
I also could help but notice that you play hockey? You're a goalie right? I'm a first line defenseman/first line center out here in California. If you ever make it out to Sacramento be sure to bring you gear and I'll show you how we do it out here in California!

This would be a great time to add some slam about Canada being better than the USA in hockey, but since we have the Leafs here... I'm pretty sure the land of eternal sun and string bikinis could teach us more about sticks, skates, and ice than we could to them.

Hahaha. Yea the leafs aren't that good at all. I have been finding myself rooting for the Winnipeg Jets this season. It looks like they might have a good season. I can also teach you about string bikinis if you want...

Oh my goodness! Please don't!
Yeah going to a Leafs game is like going to your mentally handicap siblings game. Sure you'll have a good time, take lots of pictures, drink a couple beers, stare at some chicks, but you know you'll never see either of them holding the Stanley Cup.
Ah crap I'm off topic. Everyone wave hello to Si-MOCs.

I have multiple female friends who would do the modeling for me...
And yes, yes it is. Although I am too young to drink so I wouldn't know what its like to throw back a few beers...
Yes everyone wave hello to Si-MOCs and check out his flickr!

Number one baby.

You're very welcome!
They won't be #1 for long. I predict that they will start to suck in a week or two.
I will combine them and give you a run for your money!

Re: Bonjour!
Yeah we have really loyal fans. Leafs have been better this year than previous years. Who know maybe this year they make it to the playoffs. Would nice if happened once in my life time. Then I can tell my grandkids about the year that the Leafs won the cup.
Re: Bonjour!
I don't believe I have formally welcomed you yet so welcome to the CABG.
And for all you hockey followers, I don't know much about hockey but GO CAPS!

If I wasn't a Leaf fan, then a Habs fan, then a Jets fan, then Calgary, then Edmonton, then Vancouver, then Ottawa, then the other original 6 teams - I'd totally root for Capitals...
Ovetchkin is something out of this world - and probably one of the most entertaining player around.

Actually it was Rabid that got me in... in inadvertently via ROOK's mug on my Flickr site.
I think you should be thinking of making a TECHBOT to do battle!
(and yes other custom figs would be awesome - hopefully this year things will settle down more so I have time TO DO STUFFS!)
That sounds like a challenge to me!fithboy wrote:I think this is the longest welcome topic.
Re: Bonjour!
I am running out of time for my techbots. I need to become a better technic builder. I am still trying to learn lego systems .
I think this year... well I don't know how much playing around I will be able to do but I hope I am able to find sometime.
