Are you making the set playable or just a to-scale version? If it's playable sure, but if it's to-scale don't do it, just work on the outside, and the landing gear

The base is an approach I would probably take. Lego likes to use technic pieces for their stability and strength, but that's something I need to work on incorperating into my mocs. I see an engine room It's going to be kinda hard to make this playable I think. Try to make a little walking around hangar. Also I thought the gear would be fold-up?

YEOZA! That thing is going to be AWESOME! I can't wait for it to be done, I hope you have enough pieces! Also that refrence pic from the book is of the the Star-Carrier varient of the Vennator, if your making the Battleship, then it would lack that very large dorsal landing bay.

Yes I'll try to make that big hangar under the red stripe.
And im pushing the legs up through the holes into the ship so I'll rather call it "slide-up".
I'm also using technic parts on the edges. (like the new Star Destroyer...)

Sounds cool, so you ARE making the Star-Carrier varient then, this thing will be WAY cool, not to mention HUGE!!!!
